Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

So I called in and spoke to Austin McGregor. He told me there will be a blog post on ROL with info for us on 4/2. I told him about being told it was postponed and he said no. It was happening on 4/22. I asked about FP and he said he couldn't confirm or deny but the blog post should spell it out. I also told him how we keep being told different things by the CMs on the phone and he said they would address that because they need to put out the correct information. He was nice and I am glad he called me

I just got a call from a Disney Customer Service Rep in response to an email I sent regarding RoL planning. He said that they will make an announcement on the Disney Blog this Saturday, April 2. I asked if was just more fluff or actually giving dates of bookable dining and extended hours. He said that although he could tell me, typically once this type of announcement is made, I should be able to book dining the same day or the next day. Although it's not concrete, he sounded very sure of this information.

Oh, and congratulations on the baby!

Sounds a little bit like what someone else here posted yesterday. So I guess I'm back on watch for Spring Break!

First, congratulations to KateP85 !!!!

I've been watching/lurking/enjoying this thread from the beginning, so thanks to all involved. Just had to say that these new reports just feel different to me. Now I may be setting myself up for a disappointment, but I will be all over this thread and the blog Saturday! Here's hoping that we MAY finally get the news. We're going May 17, so I have alternative plans for fitting in all the new AK offerings. Thanks to everyone!!!!

Just got off the phone. I was told that there would be no fastpasses to ROL only dining packages similar to Fantasmic. She kept me on hold for a long time while she checked with a supervisor. She came back and said that the latest communication is that the opening of 4/22 has been POSTPONED!! No further info other than that.

Unless Disney removes the 4/22 announcement from the AK page I do not believe it's postponed and I still believe that they are taking the announcement that Preview Packages are postponed and misinterpreting it that Rivers of Light is postponed.

When I check the WDW site, it's usually from my laptop. I just tried to check using the MDE app and the placeholder for ROL does not show up for me. I'm using an iPhone...is that normal or do I need to be worried about not being able to see it when/if () it gets released?

If the RoL dining packages are like F!, no you can not see them or book via the App. Only the website.

Has anyone checked the blog today?

Agent P on a smartphone, AWESOME!! Now the kids can (hopefully) each use their iPod for this. They LOVED it the last time we went. Heck, I loved it when it was still Kim Possible. Norway was pretty funny when they made you walk up to the CM at Maelstrom and have you say a pretty stupid catchphrase so you could get a business card (I still have it!) which told you a code to unlock the rest of the game. We almost never finished Norway because both my sis and I were to chicken to go up to the Maelstrom CM

I was worried about this draining my phone battery but the kids using their iPods is a great idea! My kids had a blast last time we did it.

I wish we could all go out for tea and cakes, or something! Feels like ROL brought us together, and if things really start to happen on April 2nd, should have an actual in person celebration! On the other hand, cyber cake is so much easier on the hips... Anyway, you guys are the cat's whiskers!

That's what I'm hoping - we have a hockey playoff game at 7:30 am, so with travel time and the lengthy dressing process, I'm going to be out the door early. I'm much better on my laptop than phone...

As far as the opening of Rivers of Light being postponed, the only thing that should officially mean there will be a postponement is if Disney makes an announcement regarding a new opening date. Not anything a CM tells you on the phone. They're wrong a lot on the phone.

Yes based on my post yesterday about how they handled SDMT I would think being on alert makes sense for folks that will be there on 4/22. FP+ was available 4 weeks out from SDMT opening (although they announced the date and stealthy allowed FP+ on the same day).
