Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I agree. I'm just 3 weeks behind you in planning and I've resolved to the fact that I need to have a plan based on what is available today. And an alternate plan available for both AK and EP as well as our "flex" day (not sure which park we'll go to yet). I'm pretty sure I'll be sitting here a month from now checking availability of FP's nearly every day to see if Soarin', FEA, ROL, and Night Safari have opened up yet. And I'm thinking that "checking" will continue to happen right up until the days we're in those parks since I highly doubt that those 4 things will all open on the same day and and have FP's open at the same time. This is by far the most difficult time I've ever had planning our Disney trips. I thought planning the first trip with FP+ was stressful. HA! That was nothing compared to this one! I'm sure it will still be a great trip and even if we don't get to experience any of the new attractions/shows on this trip, they'll all still be there the next time we go so we'll see them then. It's just the not knowing that's driving me nuts.
I'm with you. My window opens in a week. I went ahead yesterday and finalized my Epcot plans (though I'll make an alternate with FEA....not even thinking about Soarin because for us at the beginning of June, I doubt its open) and I'm finalizing AK today, pretty much leaving the evening/nighttime open. I'll be stalking the DIS and MDE every day for all those FP you mentioned, too.

I haven't called in like a week.. I think I have given up lol
I haven't called in two weeks! I don't even look anymore. One - I know someone on this board with April/May trips usually will and two - I'm thinking the dining pkgs won't be available for breakfast anyway, so its probably FP for us...if we can get one.

Thanks to all of you that do continuously check!

Awww. So cute. Our DDs are getting their BBB the day before. Maybe they will still have some glitter. Most of what I've heard about the Chewie M&G is that he's awesome. I can't wait to meet him!

I may have purchased it last night. :rolleyes1 It makes me ridiculously happy. Thank you on the avatar. I used to make them regularly back in my LiveJournal days.

So many fun t-shirts out there. I got my son one with 4 panels of cartoon Luke, 3PO, Vader, and R2. I'm not sure he will ever wear it but it could happen.

It makes me so happy that you bought it - ha! I can't wait to meet Chewie either!!

Every day I check the Disney Parks Blog just to see what new comments you've posted! Reading them cracks me up. It adds a little sunshine to my day and makes the (seemingly never ending) wait for info a bit more bearable.

Yes!! @KMWoolley , I am only reading the Disney Parks Blog to see your comments. My DD and I were cracking up last night about Kronk!

I'm still debating whether I want to go meet Chewie. My brother is part of the 501st so they are used to all kinds of SW stuff and people around. My brother's best friend is the only original and licensed Chewie costume wearer in this country.... my DD calls him huggy bear. I am afraid she'll run up to Chewie thinking it's uncle's best friend and expect a big bear hug from huggy bear o_O I am glad they have Kyle Ren though because he's a character they haven't met yet. And Jawas. I hope there's some Jawas out. That would make their day!

My son has this shirt...it's a storm trooper riding a narwhal like it's a horse, through a rainbow. It's the goofiest shirt, but he loves it. That one will be making the trip!
I have a few Star Wars ones from Tee Turtle - Rey and BB8 that says BBBF and one with all the Disney princesses holding lightsabers. But those are shirts, not tanks, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to wear them on our trip (I'll try for evening, once its cooler) but I need a Star Wars tank. I got one from the Disney store, but its more lke a muscle shirt with huge arm openings so I'm gonna send it back.

Here's one of the shirt designs:

Good morning, everyone. Long time lurker (from the beginning!), first time poster coming up to say hello and thanks for all of the information and entertainment. Our trip is at the end of June, so not quite as urgent as the April/May folks, with whom I deeply sympathize, but still watching and waiting eagerly to make our plans. We love AK and can't wait to see it at night!

I was in a panic that I overslept this morning. Jumped on the computer, checked for packages. Checked hours, checked fps. Nope, No, Nada. Disney did not disappoint.

On the plus side I successfully passed off a sold out PPO Akershus ressie. There has been no availability, and I held on in the hopes that Disney would pull a miracle out of their hoo-ha and FEA would be ready. I listed it early March as available, then never got around to dropping it. When I was contacted last night about it, I had to check to make sure I still had it. She got it, and that made me happy! Every ADR or fp I have passed off has been done so successfully. Last trip I helped a dad with fps for A&E and BOG ressies.
I still have a F! H&V pkg. I keep meaning to drop it but then I think, someone might eventually want to coordinate....

Has anyone seen on any other threads when they think they will start soft-openings for the new ride in Norway?
No, as we all know, they are tight lipped with soft openings. When New Fantasy Land in MK opened there was no announcement regarding soft openings. Just folks in the area at the time they wanted to test were asked to participate. There was no way to plan to do it. I don't imagine the new Frozen attractions to be different.

Do you know how far in advance Disney usually does soft openings?

Anywhere from a month to a couple of weeks. And when they are done, they are usually done using cast members first. Not guests. So if they are done with guests, probably more within the two week time frame.

If they do soft openings with guests, there won't be any announcement. They will just be outside inviting guests into the attraction. No way to know when or if.
