Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

So what is the best strategy here? Should we book a tusker adr, knowing we will need to call to see if it can be rebooked as a dining package, or just leave that day open to see what pops up?

I know the adrs won't be counted a s a package, but I'm thinking they only have so many tables and if it's full for the day how will they do packages??

this is making my head hurt!

We are dealing with similar "angst." Currently planned for AK on 5/2 to use the EMH and be out by 2pm, or 3pm the latest as we have dinner planned with family from Tampa that night at DS. Should FP+ become available for RoL we plan to shift one to the show pending any tiering and just go back to the park that night. Alternatively if FP+ is available for RoL on 4/30 (arrival day) then we will have dinner at Epcot that night and use our FP+ for AK for the show in lieu of doing any FP's at Epcot.
If only we had.... any planning details. :badpc:

My almost-5 year old just saw an advertisement on the Disney Jr for Jambo House and Animal Kingdom and gasped, "MAMMA WE GOTTA GO THERE!" (She loves animals and wants to be a "vet-n-arie-in" when she goes up!)

Oh, my heart. :lovestruc

At least she doesn't care about Rivers of Light--because thankfully I haven't seen any advertisements for it on Disney Jr!

She has no idea we're going for her first visit in 36 days!!!pixiedust:

I have a theory: it's going to open up on April 1 with fps, dinner packages and evening hours. Only when you click on them, a huge banner comes up and says "APRIL FOOLS!!"
I was totally planning on posting on here first thing April 1 that Disney released their ROL packages as my April fools joke on you all.

You must be ready to bust! that's so exciting!

I guess sometimes she rides it before her M&G - it was totally by accident but very cool! My son was quite taken with her!

We also rode the Tea Cups with Alice - I think the same deal! I hear the step-sisters ride the carousal before their M&G - I haven't seen it, but I've seen pictures and it looked hilarious!
I have seen the stepsisters and the stepmom ride the carousel

Hi ROL support group/survivors/Maggie lovers- waiting impatiently for the news. Been busy and haven't caught up but was so sure we were going to get info on the 22nd. LOL! 305 pages about everything and 'nothing'. Glad to see you all have a sense of humor still and hope tomorrow is the day for those of you with fast approaching trips! Trying to figure out if the Halloween party makes sense for us. After hoping it would be early Sept this year and it is now I have to make a decision about moving stuff around including early BOG the next day... But if I didnt have a trip or two to plan I would have to deal with the laundry!

Quick off topic question. I am picking my fast passes soon and I am curious, can you only chose hourly as in 9am etc etc .. OR can I choose like 9:30 etc etc.

All the parks are good so far but I am having an issue with animal kingdom. Trying to see lion king and memo, picking those times, and mixing my three fast passes in are stressful lol.

Only plan to be at animal kingdom till 2-3 the latest. Opens at 9

I don't feel the need for the fast passes at epcot later in the day. I am sure ill scoop something after i use my morning 3.

Was thinking Dinosaur rope drop. FP everest at 10, see lion king at 11, FP rapids at 12, see nemo at 1, then fast pass safari at 2..

Ah confusion

I would swap Nemo and Lion King, assuming they are available at the alternate times. The park is pretty spread out to be walking back and forth more than necessary. You don't need FP for the shows, but if it is a crowded day, show up at least 30 min early to get in. I have been shut out of both arriving 20 min in advance. Otoh, low crowd days you can walk into FotLK 10 min late and still be seated in the 'back' section. Otherwise the plan looks good. You can get FP starting every 5 minutes. So, if you were planning on Nemo at 11, you could try to get Kali rapids from 11:40-12:40. For a 1pm FotLK, book the safari after 1:30.

I encourage you to view a map of the park. You may run yourself ragged going back and forth like that. Also, Many people suggest doing the Safari early for the best animal viewing. I've only done morning safaris and we've had good luck. Animal Kingdom seems more relaxed to me than the other parks. You should be able to get in a lot of the big items by 2:00 or 3:00. Good luck with your planning!

I agree. I would rope drop the safari, see lion king at 10, FP Kali, FP Everest (scheduled where you could do them back to back by arriving at the end of the kali window and the beginning of the Everest window), see the Nemo show, FP dinosaur, then out. Much less running all over the park, which will be exhausting and incredibly hot due to the time of year and the fact that it's AK.

I missed the 300 pages flip :(

I will share thought what I have decided I will NOT do for ROL. Last year I happen to be at the 24 hr party at DL by "accident" (trip was planned way before it was announced). So around 1pm I get this special event cupcake at Casey's (it was huge, delicious and the very last one they sold). I sat down on the curb in the hub on the Adventureland side to eat because it really was the only open place to sit. Repeat: it's 1pm. First family sits down next to me and asks - is this where the parade is going to be. I said no, the parade goes around the hub the other side. They thank me and get up. And I think, have I missed an announcement for some afternoon parade? Gotta check on that. Not a minute later another family sits down. Same spiel. No, the parade route is in the other side. This happened like 4 times and I'm so confused about how I could have missed a parade. Just a reminder: it's 1pm. So there comes a young couple and sits down next to me. This time I proceed to tell them the parade route is on the other side before they ask. The girl smiled and said, yes, she knows, she's a CM. She just got off her shift. I then tell her people have been asking me about the parade route and have I missed an announcement for an afternoon parade. She just laughed and said no, they were all asking about Paint the Night at 10pm. She tells me people had been camping out on Main Street since the 6am opening for the 10pm parade. I am having nightmares this is gonna happen to ROL as well...

But hey, I will not camp out from opening at 9am for a 9pm ROL showing. But apparently there are enough crazy people who would. That scares me.
