Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

At this point, I'd like confirmation of the following, which, to my knowledge, are only "rumors" or "heard through other sources":
  • Will there absolutely be FPs made available for RoL? If so, will there be any changes to FP tiering at AK as a result?
  • Will there absolutely be an RoL dining package? If so, what restaurants would this be available for?
  • Is it possible to watch RoL from places around AK that are not in the designated seating areas?
Just this alone would do wonders for the ability to plan. Has Disney officially announced that any of those are a definite?
First 2 are covered above but I wouldn't count on seeing the majority of the show from a non-designated seating area - they haven't cleared any additional sight lines so the view of the lagoon is going to be the same as always...might see bits & pieces but CMs will most likely discourage stopping on the bridges

I agree. The show is not like Illuminations or Wishes where you can see it from just about all over.
It's much more like F!, or over in DCA, like WOC, where you need to be looking a specific direction to see everything. Not saying you won't be able to see some bits or hear it from elsewhere but I wouldn't plan to see the show from outside the seated/viewing area.

There's a view from some of the flame tree seats - directly opposite the nemo area - but I bet it'll be like looking at a movie screen from the side of the screen instead of the front...

Every day that we don't get FP + reservations or expanded hours I'm starting to think something is up. If there's nothing new by Thursday the 24th (Under 30 days left before the public opening), I'm going to throw my hands up and assume the park will close at 6 PM and choose Boathouse for Mom's Birthday dinner. I'm really thinking we are getting a seasonal event or it's delayed until June.

Wow! 10 more pages since this morning. I was sure that meant this was it (and I had missed it of course). Good to know it was just the DPB folks kicking the hornets nest with information-less posts. I wonder what they are going to take as an indication that they really need to start providing info?

The crowd shouting "Kill the beast!"

Oh wait, sorry, that would be BOG dinner packages. My bad. :simba:

I am enjoying the one liners this morning as I wait for Amazon to figure out why I can't register my new kindle. Keep them coming, cause at this rate, I may run out before Amazon figures out the problem :sad2:

Amazon customer service usually pretty good --- if nothing else, you can always try the new Disney Customer service number -- (407) - Wmaggie

I'm saying no way to either of those.
That doesn't mean they will have the planned preview events but I do not believe it will be delayed, not after their continuing to stick with the 4/22 date. Nor is it going to open and then close. Once it's opened on 4/22, it will be nightly. But, it may well be there are no dining packages at the start, and no preview event.

Okay, anyone else focused now on creating a strategy for securing a FP+ or dining package once they become available? (or maybe I am behind and you all already have a plan!) What's your plan / how many devices are you prepared to have ready for this onslaught of reservation madness?

I'm thinking the more web-enable devices I can connect to MDE and attempt to book the better...

Device Site/App 1st attempt 2nd attempt
  1. Cell phone MDE app Dining Pkg FP+
  2. ipod (DD) MDE on website Dining Pkg FP+
  3. Computer MDE on website FP+ Dining Pkg
  4. ipad MDE app FP+ Dining Pkg

Since we have *nothing* new today on the ROL front..

What do you all think about the new MK after hours event? 3 hours, $149, meet and greets and attractions open. Select nights in April & May.

Just my opinion, I'd keep it simple. I'd go with the cell phone and computer, with my credit card handy just in case I can book over the phone.

Just read about this. I'm so confused. Will this be different nights than MK EMH or are they just not having MK EMH during those months? We are there in June, so it doesn't directly affect us, but certainly could if they decide to extend it.

You bring the torches, I'll bring the pitchforks...anyone else want to bring shovels and rakes??

This is news to me...what's this about?

Disney's hours currently list the 3 nights in April (14, 21, 28) as 11 PM closings, with a 10 PM closing on the 28th. So my guess is 3 hours after that = 1 or 2 AM. :crazy2:

So far it looks like folks here are not on board.
DH and I are. We are there for both April and May dates. The April dates won't work at all but we could do the one on 5/8. If it is, I'm sure we'll go. He was on board when I told him about it a few minutes ago. We are "those" people though. I love Disney's ticketed events. I know around these parts they are frowned upon as money grabs. We've always felt special when we do one. I believe the same will be said for this one
