Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

Wasn't there a rumor from somewhere that talked about 3/22 or 3/23 - because it was 30 out? Kind of got lost in the critters and A&E, but I seem to remember reading that quite awhile ago and didn't want to believe it. I'm now starting to.

Yeah, I remember that too. Makes as much sense as any other theory. At this point I'll take anything, just give us the details.

Yeah I think someone said 3/22 because that's a month before the ROL debut of 4/22?!

I may be off, but wouldn't 30 days be 3/23 for on site fast passes if they wanted to 'level the field'??

ugh- I hate when I get sucked into this crap. Decided to take a fun and relaxing long weekend without the kids- April 14-17- just me and the hubs. Now I'm constantly watching for this magical "preview event" that I stumbled upon last week. Why does even a quick trip have to become a stressful planning ordeal?! You suck me in every time Disney- you suck me in.

I'm way behind due to a half day meeting so someone probably already answered this. I've heard speculation that Norway would open (or the ride and M&G at least) at 9, the rest at 11. I've also heard Mexico and Norway could open at 9, the rest at 11.

I doubt they change the M&G until May 27th since thats when MK FP changes to unavailable.

My trip ends April 16-now thinking I should add a night if I can't get the RoL Friday preview but CAN get the Saturday preview!lol

And I could see the execs/PR folks being out of touch enough to think a month out was a nice, round number for release plus it's a Tues - it's not like they quite understand how us rank-and-file plan at 180/60 days the way they keep forcing us too, lol!

MDE is known to be wonky when a month has 31 days. I know on some of my trips it has opened on day 61 instead of 60 and it's been when a month has 31 days is in the mix

So you are just speculating.

There would be no reason to open ahead of time with the old film. Not only would guests be even more disappointed but logistically why would they go through all the work just for a few weeks? It's not like you are just switching out a DVD. The gliders have to be programmed and calibrated with the new movie. CM are going to be spending some time "flying" while they test all of it. It would make no sense to go through all that, change it, change it again, go through all that again. And we have the smells to switch out as well.

And if Frozen "land" opens the end of May the last thing they need is more chaos in that park those first few weeks.

No, I didn't speculate anything. Please do NOT assume. It was speculated by others on another thread. I actually tend to agree with you. Disney would only do that if it helped their bottom line and I don't see how it would. With Frozen opening at the end of May, as rumored, there is no reason whatsoever to open Soarin. But this is a thread on a board and I felt like passing along the info that I read somewhere else. I'm sorry that you had such an issue with it. I specifically said "speculation" so I didn't pass along anything irresponsibly. Geez.

Fwiw, doubt it'll bring new news about AK but I plan on it too - I have an appallingly bad record of making it to the show when I'm on property!! And w/ any luck the 22nd is the magic number <fingers crossed!>

Dont think this was irresponsible at all!! Until this weekend, it was the educated guess - I don't think anyone in the general public suspected Shanghai's exclusive on "Soarin' over the World' might be only 24 hrs or so...if the only thing they're waiting on is the new movie, it makes total sense to hold off opening but if it had been even a 6 month delay, it would've made WAY more sense to open the 3rd screen (even if it was only the remastered old movie) at help w/ the summer crowds & Epcot's attendance drop-off
