Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

So, I called into Disney Dining because basically it's part of my routine right now...Not much new to report but report I will...

The CM confirmed that the booking for both preview parties and dining packages was supposed to happen on 3/12 and that it was postponed on that day. She did not have an update as to a new date for booking, but said it could happen at any point so "keep checking".

She could not confirm that the preview parties were still happening, but she did say that they were pretty planned out, so she would be surprised if they didn't happen in some form or another. She said to "keep checking the parks blog" and that DVC members and annual passholders may get an advance email about it, but that the preview parties would be open to everyone if they happen. I am not a DVC member or passholder, but wanted to pass it along for others.

She did say that the start date of ROL was in "concrete" for 4/22 (I know, take it with a grain of salt, just reporting my conversation!).

Now, here's the new information and it's critical piece...she said that Stitch was the one who postponed things and that he has been wreaking havoc and is responsible for all of this! So, at least that mystery is solved...I don't know why, but she really struck my funny bone today - I was laughing, then I had her laughing, then we were both cracking up...so no new information but I got a few giggles, so I consider it productive...

That damn Stitch! Well, at least we know why it's being delayed. ;) When I called the other day, she gave me the same thing about the Parks blog being the place to check.

But good to know. I am DVC & an AP holder so I will be on the lookout!

I read in several sources that ROL dining packages will only be available to book at least 2.5 hours before the start of the show. The information you shared puts the show starting time at 9:30pm. This seems a little late for the first show to start being that sunset is around 8-830pm in Aril and May... God I hope it's not that late. My children will be losing it by that time of night.
Right now I have all my fps scheduled according to the current times allowed. IF they open the park later, I plan to alter the times and maybe not rush to get to AK so the kids won't be bonkers by 9 pm

I would so much rather hear "Stitch messed everything up & we don't know what's going on" than some fake info.

I can handle all kinds of misinformation but dragging Stitch's good name through the mud!?

( just kidding, of course!)

This is unfortunate if true because we really wanted breakfast. Oh well. Plans change. It will be too hard to get in with no reserved seating in early May.

We also wanted breakfast at TH for the package. However, seeing how much they charge for the dining package compared to what regular TH dinner buffet costs, I am still surprised. The upfree is pretty little for the package. I am not really complaining if we have to do dinner instead of breakfast at TH. I am just glad to see that the upcharge for the package is little.

I just spoke with Dining re: ROL dining packages for our trip in May (did not ask about preview bookings). CM "confirmed" booking starts tomorrow (3/15) for the dining package and that 4/22 was the start of the shows besides any preview nights. CM said her understanding is that Tusker House is the only restaurant available for the package. She was able to view quite a bit of information in her system and found that booking times for dinner will be 4-7pm and the reserved seating will be for the first show only (but she didn't know what time the first show started). She stated pricing for the dinner package is $44/adult and $26/child.

FWIW - She also told me that having an ADR to Tusker House doesn't help at all when calling back to try and switch to a dining package.

So...I will call back tomorrow and hope to book a reservation!
Oh great I hope the CM is correct. Did she say what time booking would start?

Well, our first trip when the kids were little, we had breakfast at O'hana, and Stitch stole my coffee, so frankly, I know what he's capable of. My kids still talk about that!

Me too - I could tell that she's getting lots of calls about it, but she's keeping a sense of humor about it so I couldn't help but do the same, although in all of these situations, I always let the CMs know that I know they're doing their best with the info they have!

Do we have to call to get the dinner package? Or can we book online like normal? When Minnies package opened at DHS we had no problem getting a spot online.

I'm thinking the dinner package should be available online.. Fantasmic ones are, right!? I'm not so sure about the preview event though?

DH is a CM, he works in corporate and often gets tickets to preview events, etc. In this case he's been offered a ticket to something that sounds like a lot of fun.

Just following up on this to see if your DH's tickets have been rescinded or if he was told the preview event was postponed and his tickets were no longer valid? I believe you previously posted the date for his tickets was 4/15. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Refresh my memory, when this happens do I need to be calling 407-WDW-DINE or will it also show up on-line? Does the dining reservations line really open up at 6 AM eastern?

I believe the dining line begins 7AM eastern.

In my experience, preview events have been bookable by phone (I don't recall seeing them online, but perhaps they were and I just didn't look). I recall using the dining line in the past.

ETA: this post on The Dibb did mention the preview events showing up online under "special events"...

The CM I spoke with did not say what time booking would start.

CM told me this morning that the packages should be online just like the Fantasmic ones. However, she also said she wasn't sure if it would launch online at the same time as they could take phone reservations.

I'm not holding my breath, but just hoping I can book something tomorrow so we can solidify our plans for that day.
