Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

A whole lot of nada on my end again this morning! :(

I did my usual quick check of a few different pages and I don't see anything new yet, either. Guess I'll be keeping an eye on the blog today (and here, of course). I just hope it's not another day with 10 new blog entries that each get my hopes up until I see that none are ROL related...

this is a sloppy mess all the way around. Not sure what happened to disney's much-lauded attention to detail as to rolling out new attractions/events.:rolleyes1

After jumping thru hoops last year to book special events for Star Wars at MGM and in DL (for Blue Bayou Magical Halloween & their Halloween party), I had hoped they'd have improved a bit on the roll-outs after all the negative comments by those who were shut out.:confused3

If their intent is to create a buzz before they release details on their blog & website (at which point a large portion of things are already booked after 'soft-rollout'), they have succeeded. I do appreciate being able to get head's up here as to 'when' things will get going:dance3:

It got Shanghai-ed?

No ADR and no sunrise....
I also have rain:(
It got Shanghai-ed?

Dark and dreary here and limited sleep - someone stole an hour from me!
At this point I have a coffee on an IV drip. I don't sleep anymore - I nap.

DH suggested that I just quit cold turkey and forget about all this ROL business. I think the lack of sleep is getting to him- after 20 years he should know better than to suggest I quit something like this.
"Hi my name is Monika and I have a disease and I'm not afraid to admit it".:cutie:

While I agree that would be logical in the real world, the back and forth on BTMR convinced me that Disney isn't bothered by rolling out info and taking it back a week later. They had BTMR on the refurb list for May for a couple months. Then took it off (silly me told children) and a week later it was back on again (and then taken off again for May about a month later).

Was this Disney? I recall looking for, but not finding, info on the BTMRR refurb on Disney's official site. All of the shifting dates were on third-party sites. Granted, they may be getting inside information, but if Disney's not making official announcements, then changing them, I wouldn't fault them. This happens a lot in business. You just don't usually get the inside scoop on what's happening behind the scenes like we do with Disney.

Same goes for ROL. I haven't seen really anything as far as dates from Disney officially. The speculation has all been based on info that has come from elsewhere.

I think the only official date released by Disney re: RoL is that it begins Apr 22, right?

Then it's unofficial re: potential delays, ADR package release, preview events. As much as I think it technically should be considered official when an employee dealing with the public shares info (eg it will be available to book on X date), I think we know we can't view phone CM info as official. And the info changes on them all the time.

unless i hear it from a disney bus driver, it's all speculation:duck:

I feel bad for the dining CMs answering all the calls. Back in September Sams Club accidentally got roped into free one year memberships for new moms and when you would call they would say "are you calling for the new mom special". I think the dining CMs on the phones might start doing this, "if you're calling about ROL dining packages - please watch the Disney Parks Blog and have a magical day - if not, stay on the line!"

I would REALLY hope that after announcing it's official start date they aren't already going to push it back. I am trying to keep a happy face but am losing my patienceeeee!

It says on the ROL page April 22nd. Since this has already been announced and is coming straight from Disney I would think they would make every effort to make that date.

Preview events/dining packages/FP etc are another story.
