Rumors & Confirmations

I named a single lake area that people outside the US have heard of. People from states boarding the Great Lakes don't even go on them a ton. Tons of amazing small lake and vacation destinations if you want that unique local vibe.

Heck beach next to us imports white sand to put out.

You’ve made me curious. How has anyone heard of the Ozarks? Is it from the TV show or from Branson, Missouri?

I would have thought Lake Tahoe on the California / Nevada border would have been better known. (deepest lake in the US, I think). Maybe Lake Mead next to Las Vegas, formed by the Hoover Dam - and currently dropping lower and lower in its water level thanks to drought (news story).

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Named a single lake group. Take any of them. It's the first one that came to my mind and I am not from the area.

My point was simply tons of thing to do in the US no need to travel long distances. As for if there are better? I would say yes and some of my choices wouldn't even make any national top 25 list as writers havent been there.

Did a quick search to see if I was crazy and Lake of the Ozarks is 5th on this list.

well, with the news about disney buying the Golden dream (ship is 75% complete), maybe my friend wasn't too far off.

and before all of the "they would never know about such a high level deal" comments - of course. but they are in fact negotiating contracts years out so they may not have details about which ship, they would just hear hey its a new ship almost done etc. people need to remember that when the crew is international there's a lot of paperwork required with governments etc - contracts take time to negotiate and then the long waits on govt paperwork start. idk if anyone here has actually talked with cast members about the process but as someone who worked in international visa processes I can tell you it's started commonly at least one year in advance on the us/inbound side with partner organizations starting much earlier than that, especially if the countries are seen as high no return risks (Vietnam, China, former ussr) etc.

Based on what I've seen..... if (still a big if) the deal went though, it would still only be a 2024 sailing date.

Yes cast members have been here and explained some of the process they go though. Also have explained that often they don't know what ships they'll be assigned to that far out. Heck for the Wish most all the crew I interacted with, came from other Disney ships.

What does 75% complete look like? Is there already carpet? Are the pools already in place? is the theater in or some major attraction that Disney would not have normally? What was the original plan for Golden Dream?

Even if it doesn’t happen, still an interesting storyline.

Edit: Just found thread.

Many were looking forward to being on the Wish. We talked to some on the Wonder when we did the EB PC in November and also some on the Dream in January who requested the move.

Edit: November not October.. I'm old...

It's hard to say.... as many of the images of the ship in it's drydock in Wismar Germany appear to be a mostly completed ship (from the front). It was floated out and moved from one drydock to another... so it at least floats. But some images indicate the rear sections have not been completed. But keep in mind that often with modular construction, sections of the ship might be mostly completed. While other large sections or chunks of the ship haven't even been manufactured yet.

That said as part of it's design for the Asian market.... the ship was to have an "artificial intelligence" with robots for many of the customer facing services. So a LOT of technology was planned for the ship, and I expect most of those systems have not been installed. But change them from robots to audio-animatronics and they fit right in on a Disney Ship. ;)

If the rumor proves true.... I expect 2024/2025 before it sails. While actual construction of a ship like the Wish only took Meyer Werft a little over a year, there is a lot of planning and logistic that go into allowing such a quick construction timeline. And if any major components like the thrustor pods were never delivered... they likly got sold off by the vendor long ago.

I grew up in Northern Illinois and to be honest I never heard of the Ozarks really until I watched the show or Branson.

I honestly don’t know of anyone that’s vacation there either. People either go to the Great Lakes either on the Wisconsin side or Michigan side for Midwest fun. Or go far out west or down to Florida if they stayed within the US

Edit : Recalled over the years I’ve noticed a few people I know heading down to Tennessee smoky mountains that area
