I named a single lake area that people outside the US have heard of. People from states boarding the Great Lakes don't even go on them a ton. Tons of amazing small lake and vacation destinations if you want that unique local vibe.
Heck beach next to us imports white sand to put out.
You’ve made me curious. How has anyone heard of the Ozarks? Is it from the TV show or from Branson, Missouri?
I would have thought Lake Tahoe on the California / Nevada border would have been better known. (deepest lake in the US, I think). Maybe Lake Mead next to Las Vegas, formed by the Hoover Dam - and currently dropping lower and lower in its water level thanks to drought (news story).
