I know Pleasure Island is being completely redone. According to some sources, the Adventurer's Club maybe the only old club to "make the cut" as they say. I also know Raglan Road is there. Perhaps T-Rex too, I don't know. Has anyone heard any rumors about any other plans for this area?

Last I heard, AC was in serious jeopardy, but your info is probably more recent.

On my last visit to the AC, I asked a CM about the whole PI change thing.
He stated the AC is staying, and even discussed some refurbishing of the club.

As I said, that info was from a CM and we all know how unreliable that can be. :smokin:

1) They have to do something.
2) Even with multiple CM-nights, the place is sometimes deserted.
3) WDW rushed to get PI, to compete with Universal City Walk.
4) Now, they can't make it good enough to attract people.
5) Maybe a questionaire to us would help.
6) We do seem to have ideas, but they don't seem to listen.

Actually, I'm fairly sure PI was established way before CityWalk. It was more of a direct shot at Church Street which was in downtown Orlando. They didn't want their customers to leave at night for partying. So they built their own Church Street, which has since been closed.

Rumblings are that the performers from The Adventurer's Club will be "offered" jobs at the 'Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor' show opening at the Magic Kingdom.

The basic plan for Pleasure Island remains intact - sell off the clubs and buildings to outside companies. There's no master plan and no timetable. Things will change anytime someone shows up with a check.

So the clubs will remain until a company buys a facility. At some point, are the plans to drop the charge to get in like the West Side.

This is sort of related, but here is some info on the T-Rex place from the DVC magazine...

The Downtown Disney area, meanwhile, will invite families to dine with dinosaurs in an interactive, prehistoric environment at T-Rex: A Place to Eat, Shop, Explore and Discover®. (Vacation Magic is pleased to honor this establishment with our inaugural “Wow, that’s a really long name” award.)

This “extinctive” dining destination, to be located near the Raglan RoadTM Irish Pub and Restaurant at Pleasure Island and McDonald’s® at Downtown Disney Marketplace, will combine shopping and table-service dining in a prehistoric environment built around water, fire and ice. Towering animatronic dinosaurs will help bring the experience to life, lurking among the restaurant’s
cascading waterfalls, bubbling geysers and more.

Just thought you'd like to know

That's all it said about the location. Its not clear from that which area it is technically in, but it sounds like more of a Marketplace kind of place than a PI kind of place.

The only other thing it said was:

Landry's Restaurants, operator of Rainforest Cafes, will operate both new restaurants.
The other restaurant is the Asian fusion place going in near E:E at AK.

I'm not an expert, but it usually includes dishes that combine influences from different Asian cuisines. Chinese, Thai, Cambodian, Indian, etc. Sometimes they'll be other influences, like European or American.

I've been out of the loop for a long time (I just re-registered earlier today), but this is a new one on me about the clubs disappearing. Does this mean that 8Trax may end up as "86TRAX"?. ;) :guilty:

Sincerely,

Just back from being in the World. Looks like they are planning to put the new dinosaur restaurant between AC and the Rock and Roll Beach Club. The stores are all empty with the walls up stating "Pardon our Dust". That is the only construction that I saw going on at Down Town.

Any rumor about the Comedy Warehouse? Last I heard, it was also going to "make the cut" with AC. I hope that hasn't changed.

Not sure about this. The space there would be somewhat small (especially narrow) for a restaurant the size of T-Rex. Also, if a restaurant does go there, I would expect it to be more "adult-oriented" (think California Grill) to take advantage of the view of the lake. For the record, the latest I heard was more shops going back into that space, just with new exteriors.

No inside information, but my best guess is that T-Rex will be built on the old PI "valet" traffic circle/parking lot near McDonalds and Fultons; second best guess is that it will take over Motion.

I heard just AC. I thought the show at Comedy Wharehouse was average.

Latest update (from last night). The new bridge is open. Looks like the old one, only wider and steeper, leads to the entrance to BET. Old bridge is still there, but walled off (the "ticket trolley" is now walled off into its own little alley).

The walls in front of the stores are down, but there is nothing inside. :confused3 They still sit empty. Walls are now up in front of 8Traxx; the front entrance/exit to the club is blocked off.

Despite reports of PI's demise, the place was busy for a Monday night in September. AC and Beach Club both had decent crowds, and Motion was packed.
