Rumored Jungle Cruise restaurant is confirmed.

Another restaurant is much needed and I like the counter service/table service combo. I hope they serve something like Alligator bites as an appetizer. Not sure if I'd like a campy waiter. . . I agree with the article's commenter who said that becomes a tough reputation for the waitstaff to live up to, like at 50's prime time.

First, the tiki goes up at the Polynesian and now this? Best.Disney.Stalking.Day.Ever! :earseek:

I hope it will be open sometime by our Dec. 5 departure!

But .... very bummed about the theme. I love the thought of a "jungle" theme decor in Adventureland but was hoping it would be generic jungle so in the future there could be the chance of some character meals. A jungle design could even support rotating characters: Peter Pan, Jungle Book, Pirates, Tarzan (aka boy-centric character meals). The last thing I want is to have while eating a meal is to be part of the Jungle Cruise script. o_O

I wouldn't want characters there all day, but I like your idea if they added a breakfast. I think it could still work even with the specific Jungle Cruise theming. Heck, Disney is good at shoving characters into existing restaurants without a glitch. Anyone remember CP before Pooh?

I'm really exited about this. I might have to make a special trip down just to see it.

The Crystal Palace was actually quite an elegant and "sophisticated" (for a theme park) dining venue when the Magic Kingdom opened and before the characters invaded and the place became a madhouse. We avoid it now but in the early days it was a must do for us.

I'm equal parts excited and not-excited about this addition. Yes, I love seeing more dining options in the MK (especially since we've dine at BOG twice and have written it off for a while), and I love that they're making use of a space that's already there. I'm also excited about the theme, I think they could make this something fresh & special, like an exotic safari meal.

I just would get tired of the Jungle Cruise yuckety-yuck comedy schtick really quickly. Unless there was alcohol, of course. ;)

That's my fear, 50's Prime Time Café shtick only the servers are dressed in khaki. Booze would definitely help if that's the case. I hope the menu includes cuisine from "jungle areas" of the world such as sub Saharan Africa, India, southeast Asia and South America.

Whoo hoo! This has such awesome potential!

I'm not sure whether this will actually alleviate anything or just make MK that much crazier, though. However, outside of BOG I find it pretty easy to get ADR's at the restaurants in MK. Now, if they added alcohol...:drinking1

I agree characters are not needed all day. But this is a perfect opportunity to create a less girly character meal for once. I'd much rather an assortment of classic characters than a room full of JC skippers telling the same old jokes over and over.

I agree. I wish there were more opportunities to meet with some of the classic characters, and this venue, with it's theming and being in the MK, would be ideal for quite a few classics. Even Jack Sparrow could make an appearance.

I swear my dad writes down new jokes everytime he rides the jungle cruise, so he'll love this restaurant. He's the king of schtick. He still recites jokes he learned from the keel boats. It takes a very special CM to be able to pull off that kind of humor effectively. I'm not sure the busy waitstaff will be able to keep it up.

Absolutely, but I'll bet anyone who started going to DW after the invasion never questioned why Pooh was there.

He may have found his retirement job!! :sail:

The Liberty Tree Tavern refurbishment is directly related to this and that's scheduled to be completed on November 20th. I would imagine the new restaurant wouldn't be open before then.

How is this related to the LTT?

fingers firmly crossed they can possibly open ahead of schedule and we can experience the restaurant in October.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for the same thing. I'm excited for more dining opportunities at MK!

Exciting! I see Disney slowly taking care of the issues in the parks. Maybe not at the pace that people who visit yearly would like, but I think they have lots of plans that have yet to be revealed. JMO

This is so exciting! I hope it is open when we go in December. If I could snag an ADR here and at BOG, I would be over the moon!

I remember going there as a small child with my grandparents. It was their must do dining. As much as I would like to go as an adult, it just wouldn't be the same with the characters there now.
