Rumored deals???

But is it really a savings of $960. Would you have ate at all of those TSs without the free dining.

We normally do a sit down every 3-4 days. So the savings would not be $960 for us. We never order a dessert (as I think they still have with the DP) so again less money.

I will ask you, since nobody answered last time, do you like the DP since eating out is not something that you rarely do at home. We eat out often so a meal out at WDW is not special.

The reason we do the dining plan is this. Even if we pay for it, with 6 days it adds about 600.00 for our family of 3. If you just eat table service meals, when we ate at Earl of Sandwich, that was about 30.00 for one meal. So it would be almost 400.00 just doing counter serivice meals not including snacks and drinks for those days. For the extra 200.00 we can get 6 table service. Even if you don't include dessert that is cheeper than paying out of pocket. You have to eat somewhere and even somewhere like KFC or cracker barrel is somewhere between 20 and 35 for a meal. You get more food for the money and you don't have to bother leaving the park, fighting traffic, finding somewhere to eat, and then coming back and loosing a lot of time. Even packing something to eat, it's not a whole lot more than bringing something to eat with as much as drinks and sandwich meats and cheeses cost. If you want to do all sandwiches, then yes, it's cheeper. But if you want to eat out at all, for us, the dining plan ends up being cheeper.

For us, that's it exactly. We eat out at home out of convenience, like when we have soccer and I don't think far enough ahead to have something going in the crockpot, but our choices are family diner or bar. There are no ethnic, seafood, or upscale restaurants in our town, and we rarely make time to drive down to the city to have more options. So when we travel (anywhere), dining is a big part of the trip because we like to indulge in things we seldom get in real life.

Yes, for my family, it is indeed a savings... And yes, my family eats out at least 3x's a week at home. And by "eat out", I do not mean fast food. But I feel like the atmosphere and food the restraunts at Disney offer is far above the run of the mill steak houses, sushi bars, and various other restraunts that we have here. And in the 10+ trips that we have taken to Disney, we have only done the dining plan on the last 2. We gave it a whirl and it saved us a fairly good amount of money. My family sits down for a meal together at the table every single day, and we continue that on vacation. So dining plan or not, we would still have those meals. For us, the regular dining plan costs less per day than what we were paying for one TS meal without the plan...this way we get a counter service and a snack too for the money. Now I understand that is not the case for all families. For us, the deluxe dining would be extreme. But no, we do not do the dining plan because we never eat out at home.

I don't understand why it seems to be such an annoyance for people to say what they hope for in upcoming discounts! I enjoy reading the different posts about what deals others have gotten in the past, what they hope for in upcoming discounts and what would benefit people in different situations. I believe that you said that "people who go to WDW are in many different situations" and one of those situations seems to be the "family of 4 who want the DDP and want to stay at a value resort". I don't think that people hoping free dining is any more annoying than people hoping for the 4/3 so that they can upgrade to a mod or deluxe. Different strokes for different folks, and I for one am hoping for a deal that will benefit anyone who wants to visit Disney. I will take whatever they offer whether it is a 4/3 (which BTW would not save my !gasp! family of 4 staying at a value very little) or a free dining (that would save us a whopping $960+)..... So here is MY blanket statement: I truly hope that you and everyone else gets what they are hoping for and has a wonderful time....I think that everyone deserves a great deal so they can go and experience Disney at least once, no matter their situation....

This particular thread really took off when a rumor was reposted from Len Testa on the touringplans site about a rumored 4/3 deal. This kind of deal would really benefit those of us staying at a deluxe resort. Especially smaller parties. There was no mention of "free dining".

Then there were all these people who felt the need to post on this tread about how they are really hoping for free dining and how free dining is so much better etc. etc.

My point is -- can't we just have one thread where people can revel about a rumored discount that would actually benefit them? Can't you folks that benefit from free dining start your own "We really want the new promotion to include free dining" thread and post there?

It just seems like every thread about a WDW discount program is taken over by people posting about how great free dining is for their family of 4 staying at a value. We already know it's a great deal for you! We've heard it over and over again. But not everyone who goes to WDW is a group of 3 or 4 staying at a value. So free dining is not the be all and end all for us.

That may be true but don't sound resentful to people who hope or get discouns in the value resorts. When you complain about the people who want, wish, ,or receive discounts in the value resorts it comes off like you wish the value people would just go away and the let the deluxe have the run of the park. Disney World is for Everyond. Whether it is free dining now, 4-7 later or 40% off, eventually a deal will be had. If it makes you deluxe people feel better, I went in march of 08 without a discount, they were not offering one for the time or place I was staying, I did not get a code mailed to me, and we paid full price for our trip. Dining and all. Does that make all of you deluxe people happy?

I wouldn't worry about it. I think it was more, "well, you're on the phone right now making changes, so we might as well make it a package so that you can just apply the deal when it comes out." She did directly say that it would have to be a package to take advantage of the deal, so I'm guessing 4/3. When the deal comes out, you should be able to make the changes no problem.
Thanks! Well, I'll just wait then and call when we know the real details on the deal, hopefully tomorrow!
I've only got one ressie to change so that shouldn't take too long to change over to a package and apply the deal. :goodvibes

I sure wish I had an alarm or something I could set on my computer for the Dis so then it would go off and let me know, lol! Then it could wake me up if and when there is a deal, instead of having to wake up so early just to check, lol! :rotfl: What's the best time to wake up and check things? :)

I thought I would add my perspective on the dining plan. My son and I have been to DW 6 times in the last 3 yrs we always get the dining plan. My son and I are not that into eating. We really do not like to eat out and when we do we go to familar places. We actually are forcing ourselves to try new places. Meaning we eat when hungry. So for us the dining plan is .... oh we have to eat again = kinda a PIA! But I do the dining plan anyways. So no we do not like eating out. I would be just as happy with a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich. I do the dining plan eat time.....why because it cost less than if we were to pay out of pocket. The nice thing even for us non eater types is it gives a schedule moment to take a break. Because my son and I will go and go and go. Some days we are having such fun we even skip our ADR's which is okay because then we use it for breakfast the next day. We normally stay at CSR because with the dining plan you get more for your money and the breakfast are ginormous! It works for us and we hate to eat out!

Oh for heavens sake. Are we really going to start a division here? This is the hill you want to plant your flag on?
"You are ruining my purely specualtive thread with wants that aren't the same as my purely specualtive wants!"
Seriously.. get over yourself.
It's a rumor thread.:lmao:

With this rumored deal coming out....does anyone know the dates that it may be for?

Amen, as I stated before, Disney World is for everyone. That includes free dining values and the deluxes. I fall in between with the moderates..lol

Agreed. That was one of the most ridiculous rants I've ever read. This thread is about rumored deals, which can include everything and anything from 4/3, free dining, AP discounts, military, FL resident prices, etc. I can't believe you're honestly complaining because folks are making posts on issues that don't apply to YOU. Instead of whining you could, perhaps, do what the rest of us do; skim through the posts and pull out the information that is relevant to our personal interests. I'm not sure how you've survived nine years on this board without the ability to do just that.

I have been following this thread since it was started on 9/21. The original post was a question of what the new round of deals would be and at the beginning of the thread, the possibility of free dining was mentioned......I don't care when it "took off" and was definately not aware that these threads should be divided into groups based on the percieved "haves and have-nots" as you have made it seem. I have stayed at all manner of Disney resort and am not some sort of lowly, unworthy pauper who shouldn't be allowed to post on this thread because of where I chose to stay for my upcoming trip or because of what discount I hope is released. I have never said that free dining was the all around better deal for everyone, but in my situation, it is. Your situation is different. No ones situation is the same and everyone deserves the right to say what they think and how they feel and not be made to feel inferior for it. That's just rude. I have really tried to be diplomatic and polite because that is the type of person I am and I feel that it is unnecessary to be mean on a discussion board involving something as genuinely HAPPY and GOOD as Disney. I am truly sorry for you if me and my family of 4 going on a vacation and hoping for a good deal is an offense to you, but I will continue to read and post on this thread and I hope everyone else looking for ANY kind of a deal does the same.

:goodvibes I am so excited for tomorrow to see if anything has been released. I am off tomorrow and I will be checking in all day!!

Good luck everyone!! :goodvibes

If there are new discounts released, will they show up on the disney site after midnight or do they generally not show up until later morning hours?? Just didn't know if they would be on after the site updates....anyone remember from past discounts? Thanks!:surfweb:

I would love a deal where Disney gives everyone who has a 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, or 9 in their birthday a free trip for their family :lmao:. However, seeing as that will never happen, I will hope for the best and a deal that will benefit as many people as humanly possible. All the best to everyone here!

Very well said. Some people may want only to stay in deluxe and that is fine. Some people may only be albe to go if there are deep discounts and they stay in value, we should not begrudge them of that at all. That could be the only time they get to go to Disney in their lifetime and it should be a magical time. We don't know if they have saved up for a long time just to get the money to go to the value even with the free dining or whatever sale. Some people prefer to stay in deluxe for what they get in their stay, some people see it as only a place to crash for 8 hours between being in the Disney parks so even if they can pay for a deluxe, they only pay for value or maby moderate because they are not going to be in the room much at all anyway and they see spending a lot on a room as a waist of money. It all depends on the family, and the situation. So no one should judge anyone for where they stay or for whatever reason. It is all on what a person see's what a room is for. A home away from home, or a bed to crash in for 8 or so hours when the parks are closed. It should not be looked upon as a class thing at all.

WDW should pay me to come visit. That would be THE best deal for my family. Oh, and I won't be offended if they give me free food either. :goodvibes

Oh, well. Maybe I should just pick a side...value?....deluxe? Oh, I forgot, I'm staying at CBR. I must be nuetral..uh...I mean, moderate.:thumbsup2

Hey! Look at me! I'm the "Sweden" of the DIS!

:flower3:Thanks for the kind words..Your earlier post about your familys trip and your daughter:littleangel: was wonderful. I am so sorry for your loss, but am I glad that you and your family had the chance to make memories in Disney. Here's to hoping that WE ALL get to make more.....
