RUMOR : WDW 5th Theme Park - "Disney's Night Kingdom"

You know what I would pay three hundred bucks for? I would pay three hundred bucks to go into a little park with thirty-foot high walls; upon entrance, I would be issued a 34 inch Louisville Slugger and a Segway. I would be able to ride around on the Segway until I found Jim Hill, hidden somewhere in the park, whereupon I could beat the #@$% out of him with the bat.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I know LOL gets tossed around casually, but that really did make me laugh out loud.

I haven't read every post here and I don't think I need to.

I don't believe a word of this! (Okay, maybe a few...i.e. "New Park Planned") As a safari guide at Kilimanjaro Safaris, I have learned a great deal about the animals and how Disney cares for their animals. For one thing, guests would not be allowed to feed hippos. Being as close to the animals as the article describes would not really be safe for the guests, but more importantly would not be safe for most of the animals...

I also don't see the investment going into this park coming back to them. It just doesn't add up to...Disney.

Then I'm guessing you're not the target market...

I think it's funny how many people here (and elsewhere) can't see how this is going to work, yet Sea World has no problems getting people to go to Discovery Cove all the time for nearly the same price

I just returned from Disney last week, staying at the GF with the Deluxe dining plan with 4 adults and 1 child for 8 days plus PPP and BBB castle package... if I am not the target market for his park WHO IS :rotfl: :rotfl:

I guess the "seeing animals in the dark" has me questioning this theme park. Really how much of the park are you going to see with those goggles on?:rotfl:

When we stayed at the AKL we did the night vision thing and well... all we saw were the animals sleeping under the trees and guess what... all the zebras were GREEN! My poor kids tramatized for life over green zebras:rotfl:

This is very different than Discovery cove. My family actually wants to do Discovery cove our next trip. It is a day trip, there is swimming and animal encounters. No crowds and lots to do for the day plus you get to walk around in your swim suit like a water park:woohoo:
Most importantly its an all day thing. You can take in the sites and lay out in the sun along with swimming with the critters.
Watching lions sleep at night or watching the hippos chase Robo around in complete darkness doesn't seem worth the price tag.
If they threw in some rides and things to do AT NIGHT then maybe it would be worth it.... :confused3

Anyone ever been to a bat cave? NO I DON't MEAN BATMAN.... bat guano...not so fresh and rose like if you know what I mean:rotfl:

So for $250 I get to smell stinky horrid bat poo, get my arm bit off by a hippo, fly over some crocs, and climb a rock wall in the dark so when I get to the top I can't SEE ANYTHING..... oh and watch the lions sleep under a tree all night. Sounds like a party to me :cheer2: :rotfl:

I didn't know he'd been thrown out of a park. When did that happen??

I don't like this idea for the new park at all. It just sounds too exclusive. I don't like the idea of an entire park only for their richer guests. WDW should be for everybody, and plenty of people I know can barely swing one of these trips as it is.

I'd rather see them spend that kind of money building up their existing parks.

Several years ago. He was leading paid tours. Disney asked him to quit he didn't. Even he admitted he was violiating thier policies etc....

Jim posts "pie in the sky" ideas that folks at Disney have as "things that are going to happen" So if someone at Disney says "you know we could build an amusement park on Mars" Jim believes it LOL!

Don't worry...hippos wiggle their ears before they attack.....

The left, the right, both at the same time, forward, backward, to the side? I'm an obsessive planner & I need to get it down in my spreadsheet so I'm ready when I make my ressies. :cool2:

What will the number of hippos be in the parks the second week of Dec. '09?

TGM?

UOG?

Also, the article states: Guests will enter DNK through a new, super-sized version of the Adventurers Club at Pleasure Island.

Last time I checked, it would be one loooooooooooooooooooooooooong connection between AK and PI.

Jim Hill posted an article the day before about The Adventurers Club closing at PI and moving to a larger location, which is when he first floats this 5th gate idea. It doesn't mean the entrance will actually be at PI, just referring to the current AC that is presently at PI, if that makes any sense, bad sentence.

I actually enjoy Jim Hill's site. I have to say his rumors aren't the best factual articles. Which is unfortunately what he tends to get beaten up about. He's often a bit too negative for some. He does have some very nice appreciations of animators, and other Disney aspects. Great story about Walt the other day. It's not his article, but a reprint of something.

I think the posters that say they will wait for the Disney announcement are probably the smart ones. It's great to speculate, which I am sure is the whole point of the Disney Imagineers. Can you imagine how many things they must have come up with in meetings that have never come to fruition? Which is why people like Jim Hill can boldly say that it has been talked about by "Disney". It's kind of like all those "my bus driver said" rumors.

All I know is that:

A) I had heard many things about certain movements by Disney leading up to this same rumor, weeks before Jim Hill had any info posted.

B) It's too early to say exactly what will be in the park, I've heard many different things, but these details don't seem too accurate and do seem less than stellar.

I'd pay to see Robo chased by hippos. ;) :lmao: :scared1:

AudioAnimatronic Robo or Robo Robo?

I'm just trying to remember where those invisible "hippo-stop" barriers are...
and how many "points" against gross ticket fees I'd take.

This IS getting interesting.

Who's got Jim Hill's cel number?

1. what the heck is spelunking? it sounds gross!

2. I want Beastly Kingdom! At least the Unicorn Quest part! When Animal Kingdom was first announced (and I was like 10 or 11) I thought that being able to see a unicorn would be the most amazing magical experience ever. And even now I think it would be the icing on the disney cake. Camp Minnie Mickey is cute and all but fire breathing dragons (like the one in Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Paris) and unicorns are about a billion times better.

3) If this really is the new Disney theme park then I'm really disappointed.
Adventurer's Club is fun but...

What is the Adventurer's Club that everyone is referring to?

I'm not familiar with that. :)
