Rumor: Simpsons ride to replace Back To The Future

I loved Kong. No way I will ever ride The Mummy. I hate roller coasters and I really love simulators. That's part of the reason I love US so much; is the simulators. IOA was disappointing, as I felt like I was at Six Flags. It is surprising for me to read comments from those who are bothered by Back to the Future but yet love Hulk & Dueling Dragons.

oh great, another six flags comment...youre saying that and you've actually BEEN to IOA? :sad2:

There's not enough space in the BTTF building to house a ride that goes on a track.

It's not wide, but it's pretty high. There seems to be enough space for a track built to utilize a creative use of space. Isn't this what a creative team of Engineers are supposed to excel at? I just hope it's not another simulator ride using the semi-stationary ride vehicles they have. IMHO, the movie isn't the only thing wrong with that ride.

I have to totally disagree with you, but first I am not "bothered" by BTTF, just think its the lamest ride there. As for IOA being like 6-Flags which 6-Flags are you talking about cause I'm there! Never seen any 6-Flags that remotely reminds me of IOA. I go to the one near Dallas TX a lot and I love that park but it is NO universal studios or IOA. The 6-Flags are more Coaster parks with a "little" bit of theme-ing. Never seen a giant broken statue of Poisiedon, Jurassic Park, Dr. Suess land, or lots of other things at a 6-Flags. Not sure how you can compare the 2. That's kind of like comparing Picasso to my little nephews painting by the numbers. I guess you also can't appreciate the awesome and most unique architecture that you find at IOA either.

Saying you will NEVER try the Mummy reminds me of a friend that I have that will never try any type of new food, just assumes he won't like it. Basically eats nothing but Hamburgers "ketchup only" and Pepparoni pizza. If you want to go through life missing out on things cause you don't want to try them that's all up to you, just glad I'm not that way. If you want a sim why don't you just go to your local mall.

Everytime someone compares IOA to a Six Flags park, a puppy dies.

As for the BTTF rumor, I'll believe it when I see it. September, the rumored closing timeframe, is less than a month away and we haven't heard a word. This is unusual for Universal. If they indeed intend to permanently close a major attraction, they let people know.

I just figured they did away with Kong because it was tame and based on a movie made 50+ years ago. But I think the re-make rawks!!!

Kongfrontation was based on the (awful) 70's remake.

maybe it's all a smokescreen so they unveil the real big attraction while we're sitting here talking about BTTF....

....but I doubt it

Thanks for the info, F-L-A. I don't recall ever seeing the remake. Guess I wasn't missing much!

Have a good one :)

When we were at US in July, we rode BTTF for the 1st time in a few years. There were signs that they may be scaling back on the ride then. We all waited for quite a while in the Express Line, before anyone acknowledged us. Next to the staging area. A guy walked through & counted the number of riders in each line in the staging area, then disappeared. All this time, the doors in the staging area were left open, so we could hear the entire ride before us. When the doors allowing us entrance into the preshow opened, we were on our own. After the preshow, we were again on our own to load the car. We & another family of clueless guests fumbled our way into the cars. We would have been quite entertaining on Candid Camera, I'm sure. (Remember, we hadn't ridden in years. ) The same guy then rushed by to check for safety, before the ride started. I don't remember being left to our own devices, when we used to ride BTTF in the past. This was the 1st time we'd experienced that on UO rides. Maybe, the ride is like that now. :confused3 We thought it was more likely a case of them beginning to scale back on employees, preparing to shut the ride down.

I thought BTTF was only operating one side of the building now, the other side is shut down for the closure.

Hmm, now that IS interesting...if they wanted to just convert the ride to a simpsons or whatever theme, that would be a good way to do it, low crowds, shut down half of it and re-theme the cars, whatever.

You are correct.

On our local news it said it would either be the Simpsons or Fast and the Furious ride which would be called, "Need for Speed." They are still unsure of the exact attraction.

That news article is posted on here somewhere......BUT, think of the irony of a "Nascar" or "Need for Speed" attraction......they HAD Nascar sim at Kings Dominion and now it's Hanna Barbera......what if KD "sold" the Nascar sim to Universal for a "swap" of sorts and Universal is "tweaking" it to present it?? I can see more of a "race car"/NFS/Fast & Furious sim than a Simpson's sim at the BTTF spot....like another poster mentioned...already have the "cars"...they'd just need some cosmetic work and the sim computer redone to "fit" the screen. Hmmm...... :scratchin
I'm sure somebody will post info when it's available....... ;)

that would explain the elevated standby times. head to the back of the park early for a trip through MIB and BTTF...while it's still there.

I call dibs on Doc Brown's bicycle and it's flux capacitor.

just realized....DS has a PS2 game called "Simpson's Road Rage".....hhhmmmmm..... :scratchin

My kids play Hit and Run and Road Rage often. They get a huge kick out of it.

Just returned from our six flags vacation (Darien Lake, Great Adventure, Great Escape, New England and La Ronde). Gotta tell you, not one was remotely like IOA except for the coasters themselves.

SAVE THE PUPPIES!!!!!!!

I know the attraction has issues, but I do wish they would continue with the BTTF theming. That's one of my favorite movies of all time.

I call general line Universal Orlando, they said is just a rumour blown out proportion....it just be rehab.
