Rumor now True...Canceled room=Canceled FP

Maybe a dumb question, but why is DVC more likely to do split stays? I'm glad they are closing loopholes but I do think there should be a way to link reservations when doing a split stay so you get fp+ for the entire stay.
Rooms can be hard to book at some resorts so owners often peice together reservations by splitting up theur stays.

Really? that would be great for us as we have AP as well. I still don't like the split stay situation, but this would help some people.

I thought that AP's could book 7 days at the 30 day point, which was a restriction, IMO, to not be able to book as long as someone with a 10 day ticket, for example. Good to know that I was wrong!
AP can only book fast pass at 30 days unless they have an on-site stay then they can book at 60 days. I don’t think having the annual pass is going to help with split stays unfortunately

Universal hotels are actually really nice. I like them more than Disney hotels and they are cheaper. If you pick Hard Rock, Portofino or Royal Pacific you’ll get unlimited express pass in the parks for your stay.

I do feel like Disney is trying to get people to stay off site with the parking fees, room checks and now this. I like staying on property but might stay offsite more often now
Not sure the last time you stayed at a Universal hotel but they have room checks now too, and of course parking fees. And I never get them cheaper either. Not with our AP rates at each one at least.

I do think what's happened is Disney keeps an occupancy rate so high they aren't worried if folks stay at one of the "partner hotels" where they share the 60 day FP and EMH now. Though we'll still keep on site, it's still not going to run us off yet. It's all about transportation for now. I'm not going to stay anywhere that makes it more difficult (as in, adds more time) because anything that adds more time takes away from sleep time. DH would kill me if I took away any of his sleep time, LOL

As someone who is doing a split stay next, I am 100% fine with FP window opening when each onsite stay opens *if* they close all the loopholes, including the rolling 60-day window and, most importantly, the making an onsite reservation and then cancelling within 30 days, and the making of split stay reservations to get the FP window to open earlier, only to cancel the first part of the split stay. If they do indeed close these loopholes, then it SHOULD be easier to get SDD and FOP at 60+1 and 60+2. I'm all for it!
If I'm understanding everything correctly, and I'm not sure if I am or not, the within 30 day part isn't changing. Only outside of 30 days is. I think

I was there recently. Yes they do room checks but it’s handled better. There are clear signs in the lobby letting you know about them. Disney keeps it a secret which I really don’t get. I also never had anyone disturb me when I was there and was in the room a lot. They’ve always had parking fees which I never liked, but they also don’t have a lot of land so their parking is very limited. It’s the opposite with Disney and it’s them just being greedy. And I’ve never paid anywhere near the rates I’ve paid for Disney hotels there. And I’ve stayed in really nice rooms. I also really like that you get express passes with the room I wish Disney did something like that.

I do love EP. I get why Disney can't have them but oh I wish they could.
Please, tell my your secret for rooms at Uni.
I have a trip booked for May. 6 nights at HR, avg $440 each night. 6 nights at YC, avg $330 each night. HR should drop some when (hopefully) I get an AP rate

No if you book Fastpasses based on a resort reservation giving you an advantage (I.e. any day with a fastpass was made greater than 30 days out) then when you cancel the room (no matter when) you lose your Fastpasses. Some insiders have said Disney’s main target was just this because apparently it was leading to a noticeable change in the opened rooms at resorts.

Most loopholes have been closed now and for that I’m glad. I’m also hoping now that Disney has made it clear what and how intends fastpass to work DIS will ban all discussions on gaming Fastpasses.

Not the within 30 days based on my personal experience. But it really makes no difference to me as I don't stay off site ever so it's not something I do or try (intentionally at least)

This change went into effect yesterday so it can’t be verified yet (as there is a rumored 48 hour grace period plus other time considerations). But Disney has said this is exactly how it will function.

So any prior experience can’t be used since yesterday a huge change did go into effect.

Maybe I go at the cheaper times at universal and more expensive at Disney. My upcoming staying at yacht club is $600 a night for a garden view. So I might need your secrets lol. At universal I book with a Florida resident discount

Rooms checks started happening at hotels mainly because of the Vegas hotel Shooting. I personally don't mind random checks because it is Disney's property after all. Also, if someone is planning something bad random checks are actually the better thing.

I’m glad Disney is finally cracking down on fast pass abuse but I hate that I most likely won’t do split stays anymore. I love split stays! I usually book a value or moderate for 2 days and move to a deluxe for the rest of the trip to save some money. DD and I are heading down next Jan. and I was going to do one night at Pop before 2 nights at GF. I’m not paying GF rates for our arrival night where we aren’t using our room so we will most likely do 3 nights at Pop instead.

Is there any criteria regarding booking a new room? Seems vague. How does the system know you have booked another room?
There will be some cases where you never do. Yet you still have an on-site stay.
See this example, which I know I have done time and time again, and can't be the only one
For instance, say I start out with a 5 day stay BWI. Then I book my flights much later and end up flying in a day earlier. Due to the quirks in the Disney booking system I can't add on to my BWI stay so I have to book a separate 1 day stay at BWI in a different room category but I keep looking to change my original reservation to a 6 day stay. In the meantime, I book FP for the 1 night stay, of course. Eventually, I do get my 5 day stay changed to a 6 day stay so I cancel my 1 night stay. What happens to my 1 day worth of FP? No new stay is booked. The stay for those exact FP has been canceled. Does MDE see there is still A stay booked for those nights?

Hopefully the FPs will be flagged with the check in day used to open the FP window. As long as your resort stay starts no later than that (and continues through the FP day), then it should be fine. This is just how I would do it, and would be simiple to code. This would close all the issues they are worried about, but allow for changes that don’t result in unfair FP booking advantages.

A lot riding on should be and hopefully. Sure, that is how it SHOULD be coded. But, does anyone know for a fact that's how it's been done?

The statements are FP are tied to a specific resort stay and if that stay is canceled, the FP are canceled unless you rebook. So what does that mean. Exactly?

That’s the million fast pass question. My guess fits that vague description about needing to rebook, so, I guess we’ll see.
