Rumor now True...Canceled room=Canceled FP

It has also taken away the ability to book FP for the entire length of stay for a split stay, which is not good for DVC owners, or anyone else who likes to divide their time over multiple resorts.

I agree. If this ends up being how it shakes out, I am going to be really upset. When I planned my summer trip back in November I would never have booked a split stay had I known this would be the case. I’m DVC so it’s not like I can change my trip now. This sucks. So even though I’m staying 7 nights, I’ll only have access to 60+3 and 60+4 on two separate mornings? Stinks. Can’t the system figure out split stays??

I personally don’t think it’s an issue. Yes, it’s a hassle. I’ll now have to get up and stress about booking FP’s two days per trip instead of one, but I’m not going to stop doing split stays because of it. I like them too much.

It's all getting so confusing, on top of the new ticket pricing option depending on first day of use.

So if I understand this correctly: my 9-day tickets, to be used starting on a Tuesday, over my 13-day stay, will have to be fast-passed (not a term, but hear me out!) in two phases because I'm doing a split stay, with the first two days at the Poly and the remainder at AoA.

I mean, ADRs are done according to resort stay and it works ... but does the ticket type according to day of use complicate things at all?

If you do 3 nights followed by 4 nights it will drastically reduce your chances of getting FOP, TSL rides and forget Star Wars rides when that opens.

Exactly. I planned my ADRs, park days, etc, based around getting FoP at 60+7 on our last park day, and slinky dog dash at 60+6 on our second to last park day. Now those days will be 60+1 and 60+2. No chance. I guess I could totally redo our schedule and try to get them at 60+3 and 60+4 on the front end of our split stay, but I doubt I’d have enough success to risk changing everything I have now. Last summer I had no success with FoP at 60+5. Ugh!!

You get a 2 day grace period to book a new room.
That’s good to know thanks! I don’t think I’ve ever started and ended with the same hotel stay.

That sucks about the split stays. I love doing those and always make the harder fast passes for the end of the trip, but now those will be only days 3 or 4. It might make us stop doing them

we may stop as well. It probably makes no difference to Disney, but it will mean shorter trips overall for us. I just don't like staying in one resort for more than 5 days. Perhaps it is time to check out Universal or move offsite......if you don't have any long stay advantage to get the difficult FP+, then it is just a well to stay off site and get the easy ones at 30 days.

There are a lot of nicer hotels off site at better prices. Plus, we haven't been to Florida in a while now.

Universal hotels are actually really nice. I like them more than Disney hotels and they are cheaper. If you pick Hard Rock, Portofino or Royal Pacific you’ll get unlimited express pass in the parks for your stay.

I do feel like Disney is trying to get people to stay off site with the parking fees, room checks and now this. I like staying on property but might stay offsite more often now

As someone who is doing a split stay next, I am 100% fine with FP window opening when each onsite stay opens *if* they close all the loopholes, including the rolling 60-day window and, most importantly, the making an onsite reservation and then cancelling within 30 days, and the making of split stay reservations to get the FP window to open earlier, only to cancel the first part of the split stay. If they do indeed close these loopholes, then it SHOULD be easier to get SDD and FOP at 60+1 and 60+2. I'm all for it!

I’m trying to make sure my thinking is right for my upcoming trip.

We have a split stay (3 nights at Pop, 4 at SSR to use up DVC points). So, our stay is cash and then DVC points. We are AP holders.

Because AP holders can book 7 days of FP at the 60 day point (if they have an on-site reservation) I should be able to book all of my FP (60 +7) at 60 days, and not have to wait for a second booking window to open for the second half of the stay, right? I wouldn’t book 60+3 at the 60 day point, wait 3 days and book the remainder (which is what those who do not have AP/ DVC staying entirely on points would have to do if I’m reading all of this correctly).

Maybe a dumb question, but why is DVC more likely to do split stays? I'm glad they are closing loop holes but I do think there should be a way to link reservations when doing a split stay so you get fp+ for the entire stay.

Really? that would be great for us as we have AP as well. I still don't like the split stay situation, but this would help some people.

I thought that AP's could book 7 days at the 30 day point, which was a restriction, IMO, to not be able to book as long as someone with a 10 day ticket, for example. Good to know that I was wrong!
