Rumor: MSEP closing?!

NOTE: He did NOT clearly say that PTN would start in January, he said that MSEP would start in DL in January. Context could go either way but it could be his sources only have DL information.

MY OPINION: PTN is in excellent condition and could probably be started fairly easily at WDW while MSEP is probably in need of a good cleaning, maintenance etc to be a replacement out there. Magic Kingdom 45th birthday starts in October so who knows what will happen.


Take this for it is worth, but yesterday entertainment front-liners at DL were claiming a big announcement was coming today.

And they are saying that PtN is coming to WDW (as absurd as it sounds) and MSEP will be returning to DL AGAIN in January. I have no way of verifying this at all, just passing it along.

This has clearly been in the works all along and they didn't think people spending lots of money travelling to the parks deserved to know.

I will say I think this is very true.

Too many things lined up to make perfect sense.

Like when everyone was shocked Tony's would get a night time parade dining package, so unnessary .....
..... would they be shocked if they knew PTN was coming? No. Makes perfect sense.
I could even see them adding another restaurant on it's arrival (maybe fill Skippers) and make another viewing spot.

I posted about this a week ago on the ROL page. I'll just say this probably is not a shock to MK CMs as much as DL CMs.

..... would they be shocked if they knew PTN was coming? No. Makes perfect sense.
I could even see them adding another restaurant on it's arrival (maybe fill Skippers) and make another viewing spot.

I have heard that attendance at WDW has been down. I have no idea if that's the case at DLR. Probably not with everyone trying to squeeze in one more trip before the entertainment takes such a big hit.

I sincerely hope that attendance tanks at DLR after 9/5. They need to quit short changing their guests.

Hmm, I'm not personally quite sure of this just yet, but he did say that an announcement would come later today. He said himself that he had no way of verifying it and in the same thread earlier said it would not be coming to MK. Has it been officially announced that PTN is going seasonal?

Although I wouldn't mind PTN coming to MK, i'd rather it not, I feel like MSEP fits in with MK more and will miss it(but not the condition it is in), it's a great parade (then again maybe I'm just a sucker for seeing Jaq and Gus, do they even come out anymore?)

Even if it does come to WDW I still want a new one for the 50th.

Main Street Electrical Parade is non-IP?

What I meant was that its not Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Star Wars, Muppets, Avatar, Indiana Jones, et al, IP that Disney has been going toward.....

I just like the things that are uniquely Disney and were around before the movies or TV shows - MSEP, Pirates of the Carribean, Haunted Mansion, People Mover, CoP, and many others.

My guess is that they put the parade dining package together IN ANTICIPATION of PTN parade coming to WDW because it is SO popular at DL and such a good parade, they had a lot of success with the PTN dining packages and special viewing areas so they knew they could do the same at WDW with similar success. People were lining up several hours ahead of time to watch PTN. If it comes to WDW, they will NEED to have a similar offering for crowd control purposes. So, it is offered as the MSEP dining package and will simply change to the PTN package once that parade arrives.

I will be sad to see it go but it truly is a spectacular parade and is just what MK needs for its 45th.

I will go one step further and say I think the MSEP package was a straight up operational test for the PTN package.

I will go one step further and say I think the MSEP package was a straight up operational test for the PTN package.

Oh no doubt. No one needs a dining package to see MSEP. Especially if you're eating the slop Tony's calls Italian food. But people are going to line up to buy this package if this all comes to pass.

Although if it's been in the works it could be a short flip if the logistics and such are already worked out. Possible for an Oct. 01 start with MSEP being dark. It would make sense that they would shut PTN on the fifth, move it, and then send MSEP back via the same carrier on the 11th after its last run on the 10th.

Just heard from a source out in CA that there might actually be some truth to this, though still not sure about an announcement today. If there is truth to this, you certainly will not be seeing PTN in WDW in September. Again, this is a HUGE maybe. Still trying to get more on this. Will update.

Also, how many times has MSEP been "glowing away" now...

You'd still need to cast and train performers - which requires overtime rehearsals for entertainment performers who are already stretched thin with party shifts (also, that includes overnights - probably two-weeks worth - which will be hard to do with MNSSHP running during the timeframe). I would imagine the earliest you'll see PTN on the East Coast, if this is true, will be after the holidays.
