Rumor in Prosper, TX

I just moved from California and worked for Disney. The rumor is true that they are building a disney theme park in Prosper, Tx on the 380! They bought like 180 acres of land or something like that and have been in discussion for 10 years now and something keeps stopping them! Well hurry it up I say! They have been discussing about putting a Disney Theme Park somewhere between Disney World and Disneyland.

With all due respect, please be aware that posts stating something along the lines of "It's true that Disney is building in Texas!" appear several times each year, although the Texas city tends to be different each time.

If Disney were actually in the process of building a park, it wouldn't be a secret. It would require building approvals, public hearings, an environmental impact statement, and disclosure to shareholders — and there's no way to keep all that secret.

Is it possible that Disney has secretly acquired land somewhere in Texas and that the formal approval and disclosure process has not yet begun? Sure. It's possible, but very unlikely.

However, it's safe to say that it would be far more than 180 acres — probably more like 5 thousand acres. It's safe to say that a new park site would have direct access from one or more Interstate highways, but US-380 is not an Interstate highway. And it's safe to say that Disney would not be able to keep 10 years of discussion a secret.

I wouldn't count on a Disney park in Prosper, Texas.

Since you used the time frame "a couple of decades," you'll see Disney building more parks internationally, and you'll see Disney expanding the vacation experience domestically a fair amount, and you will see expansion in California and in Florida, but again I doubt you'll see, at least in the next decade, a new gate.

Yes they may be "discussing about putting a Disney Theme Park somewhere between Disney World and Disneyland" but I think that is all: discussion, no action like buying land in TX.
