RUMOR: Disney World Will Limit Guests to One Theme Park Per Day

I wonder how long no park hopping will last. Will this be a forever thing or just for a little while? We loved to park hop. When we stayed at WL, we would take the boat over to MK at night so we could see the fireworks and get a few rides in. It was really nice

Again .. I feel Disney is trying too hard to accommodate social distancing, especially since they aren't even opening up for another month.

By the time mid-July rolls around, no one will care about social distancing anymore. Most people don't already if my local beaches are any indication. These George Floyd protests show that people don't mind being shoulder-to-shoulder with A LOT of strangers for hours on end. I think those who CHOOSE to go to a theme park will be fine with it being crowded .. being on a crowded bus, in a crowded queue or standing shoulder to shoulder watching some fireworks for a few minutes .. especially if people are wearing masks.

I never hopped and never understood how efficient going park to park really is.
It's not about efficiency, it's about what you like to do. We rarely spend a whole day in a park. We'll usually start in one park and move to another (usually Epcot) in the mid-afternoon. We're not looking to go on as many rides as possible, we're just looking to enjoy ourselves. We also like to eat a good amount of table service around World Showcase.

If you can't park hop, can you leave and go back to the same park. I'm not sure of the hours, but say Epcot is 11-9. We can't do 10 hours. We would go at 11 , stay until 3, leave and go back about 6. If we weren't staying at an Epcot resort, we'd still leave and find a bench to relax for a few hours. You know how hard it is to find benches inside a park now.
This hasn't been announced, but I feel confident that you'll be able to re-enter the park. If you're locked to one park and they're capping attendance, there's no reason they wouldn't want to let you back in.

The reservation system they are deploying will allow them to be very flexible in the future. Disney can balance the parks to make sure the crowds are dispersed evenly (or relative to their size). They can increase/decrease capacity in pretty quick order, depending what happens with Covid. Park Hopper unfortunately complicates their system. I could see them selling or making available limited park-hopper reservations so they can account for hopping, but I don't expect that anytime soon.

We can all picture a post-Covid world. When this happens (2021-2023?), I would imagine things get back to the old normal.

I like some of these comments. I don't think Disney is going to allow park hopping for some time. It controls how many people are in a park at any given time and with all the precautions they will have, it would be counter productive to what they are trying to do. I personally dont care, because we dont use it and for the people that are complaining about not offering it, you have the option of not going.

Had other things not caused us to cancel, the inability to park hop would have. And I agree, if they're removing the park hopping option, AP's need to be given at least a partial refund on their passes. Non-resident passes cost a small fortune. Starting the clock on AP's on July 11 is ridiculous, but I'm not sure we have that confirmed yet? I know Shanghai did not. Disney shouldn't either. What they are offering now is not what I paid a lot of money for. At the very least, all the parks should be open with park hopping available before they start the clock ticking again or there should be a significant refund for the loss of benefits we paid for- both for active AP's and vouchers.
They haven't confirmed when the AP clock will restart.

I don't think we have been notified yet when they are starting the clock. At least I haven't been (out of state Platinum AP). That said, I am sitting back patiently and waiting. Remy has said more than once to be patient as he believes AP holders will be satisfied with what Disney does for them in the end. I feel like that is in line with what Disney has tried to do historically.
I am still patiently sitting back and waiting as well, but with the deadline looming to be able to cancel my trip I am starting to want some firmer options. There are so many different ways that people get the value out of their expensive passes that no single option really covers it. I might be crazy, but right now it seems like they are trying to make the parks as unappealing as possible so people won't visit. That is a great strategy for everyone but AP holders.

Back to the original topic, not being able to park hop is HUGE for us. We normally hop every single day and occasionally 3 parks in a day. It is core to how to do Disney. On a typical day we rope drop in the morning, then we move to a second park where we have fast passes at about 11. We usually finish in that park in the late afternoon and have a dining reservation for dinner in that park or more often at a resort. On some evenings we return to a park for the evening show. The rope drop and morning is usually busy and fast, but after that 2 hour stretch we feel we have done enough for the day and are able to relax and enjoy the 2nd park with our fast passes and less of an agenda to see umpteen attractions.

Being stuck in one park, especially with limited dining reservations, is a big change. It feels like a return to the days when we first started at Disney and stayed in one park all day long to try and ride as many attractions as possible.

Not delving too deeply into predicitions, but I do not see park hopping going away long term. It is a huge money maker for WDW. They aren't going to cut things that profit them. For now, I think it's gone simply because the reservation system doesn't lend itself to park hopping. I don't think we'll be looking at a reservation system for long either. But telling people they have the option to not go, just because it's something that doesn't interest you, is becoming irritating. Everyone already knows that.

That's what I thought, so I'll reserve my complaints until they do. lol I had fully expected them to follow Shanghai, hopefully they will.
I think we'll see something like that. Maybe there will be something like having your clock restart on X date or the first time you go back in to a park, whichever comes first. I don't think they'll just restart the clock for everyone on July 11 or July 15 with the capacity being so limited.

Wow telling people they don't have to go. A novel concept! I think we all grasp that by now.

If I was like a poster above who was booked at an Epcot resort and had a platinum pass I would be annoyed, too. Epcot resorts are $$$$ and we stay there to make hopping easier, too. I would want to switch resorts if it wasn't possible to hop, but Disney has everything locked, so I understand their frustration.

We typically park hop, one park at rope drop, break when it gets packed/too hot, then usually to a different park in the evening. That being said, for this trip, we can handle modifying to no hopping as long as you can leave the park and then reenter the same park later that day.

Maybe people won't care about it, but WDW will. They made this bed and have to lie in it for now. If they say "hey no one cares about distancing now, let's revert back to old rules" they would have some irate people who canceled on their hands.

They can't win no matter what they do.

Yep, we're staying at the Boardwalk Villas in September and we have Platinum Passes we're planning to activate them. The lack of hopping is frustrating, but I understand why it will be in place. I really hope it doesn't last too long.

I agree, telling people they don't have to go is not helping anything.

I'm mostly curious about what they'll do about my existing park hopper tickets if they aren't allowing hopping. As it is, this ticket is supposed to give priority to book park reservations, but I'd rather buy a new non-hopper and save the hopper for next year if they aren't allowing hopping in August.

Useful info. Unless they will enable pre-existing ticket holders to add tickets before the general pop, this would be our dealbreaker. I wish they would allow park hopper people to pre-select two parks in a day. I'd be willing to schedule it ahead of time.

Hopefully they refund people the price difference with the hopper. It would be ridiculous not to since it is more money than the regular non park hopping ticket

I would, too. I have no problem booking hopping in advance. I usually know that when we make FPs.
