Rumor about Mickey Mouse

I called Disney Dining to make some character dining reservations, and the woman I spoke with told me that Mickey Mouse will not be at any character meals . . . that he does not come out anymore because he was always being bothered by people jumping on him, biting him, etc. That sounded strange to me, and Mickey seemed to be everywhere (and very accessible at Chef Mickey's character dining) at WDW in January. Is there any way this is actually true?

We have reservations for Goofy's Kitchen and I know DD will be disappointed if she doesn't see Mickey.

I diddnt see him when we went to Goofys Kitchen in October.... I have never heard of him being at a Character meal, now that you mention it.

Disney dining is correct. There are no character meals at DL that include Mickey. There is a birthday party/cupcake decorating at the Plaza Inn that includes Mickey, Minnie & Pat E. Cake called My Disneyland Birthdya Party. Mickey & Minnie don't walk around like at character meals but there is an opportunity to meet Mickey and get pictures taken with him.
If meeting Mickey is very important to your daughter, he can be found at his house in Toontown and often at the disney visa meet and greet in DCA.

I've seen Mickey on two different occassions in DCA. One in his sailor's outfit, an done in his tourist's/California outfit.

We often do breakfast at Goofy's kitchen and Plaza Park Inn with Minnie and friends. Minnie is at both but never Mickey. Mickey is fairly easy to find in the park though. He is at the front of main street in the early hours and almost always in his house in toon town.

Mickey briefly had a character meal at DCA called Cap'n Mickey's in what was before that and is again, Ariel's Grotto. It was short lived. This was in November and again in December of 2004 when I ate there, by the time I went back about six months later that meal was gone, not surprising given the outdoor sign still said Ariel's Grotto. That was the only time that I have had a character meal at DL with Mickey in it in the five years we have been going to DL. For that matter the only time I see him at WDW is at Garden Grill in Epcot and Chef Mickey's at the CR. Its sort of amazing that given the whole "it started with a Mouse concept" he isn't at more meals at both parks! He is pretty easy to find around the parks, I have seen him many, many times on Main Street, in Toontown, and over at DCA near the Sun Wheel where he has on shorts and a beachey shirt.

Like the others have said, that is true. We've never seen him at Character meals. At Goofy's Kitchen we have seen Minnie twice though.

We saw Mickey back in Toon Town and did not have much of a wait. That is wierd he is not at Character meals since they have them at WDW and I have never noticed him being mobbed.

The reason you were given sounds a little strange; I don't know why Mickey would have any more trouble than any other character.

But in any case, he does seem to be very accessible in the parks, and if I had a choice, I'd rather he be very accessible in the parks! We saw him at his house in Toon Town, and also almost every evening on Main St.
