Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

That would be a great idea. The only drawback I see is parking?

Park at Studios and they can run extra boats or take the skyliner. Idk if either of those transportation methods will actually be running but they could. They could just make everyone walk and accommodate those with needs with a shuttle or bus. Sometimes thats what we’ll do anyway if we are only going to WS. The walk from the Epcot parking lot to the back of world showcase is almost as long as the walk from studios to Epcot.

Currently Norwegians are being told that they should prepare themselves for not travelling abroad this year, and that if we choose to go against whatever our government advice is at the point of departure we might loose some of our insurance coverage. I don't think Disney is going to have much luck recruiting over here.
I would think Disney would provide insurance for them while stateside. Unless it’s a retaliatory type “we’re yanking not-related-to-travel-benefits to manipulate you to stay here” situation I can’t see it having an effect...

Open the WS entrance only and block off all of future world. You have two major attractions and all the restaurants and booze. Limit capacity.

Challenge I think would be staffing WS though as the international CMs were sent home and just have to think it will take a while to get a sufficient number back .... Guess they could just staff with non-international CMs but that would take training time to get people up to speed on new roles .... Just not sure worth it (other than for that sweet, sweet overpriced booze money)

I was almost arrogantly confident that Disney would open in June when Universal announced their plan. Now I might be eating some serious crow. I really want Epcot to be open too. Soarin is my favorite ride. I also would really like the mask rule to stay in place for the calendar year but only require it inside. I'll be pretty scared to go if there are limited or no safety measures in place by August. I'd want to know that before we come so we can still get a refund. I know masks are a pain but a compromise between wearing them outside and inside is reasonable. I don't see the virus fully going away anytime this summer and Disney would seem reckless to loosen precautions that might prevent outbreaks in what most consider a hot spot.

Honestly I think the mask issue is one reason Dis ey wanted to hold off as long as they can to reopen .... If progress is seen generally between now and the end of July then I think they could have opened in August with masks only required indoors (which I think is a good compromise - especially combined with limited capacity in the park)

But I just don't see how they could say today they are opening in June and not require masks just with all the guidance still in place

Well you won’t get any clarity on that today. They’re discussing what’s in place, not when they might get rid of all this stuff that is allowing them to open. I’d book as a package so the tickets are refundable for just the package cancellation fee at worst.

Because I like half of Disney better than all of Universal? They are two completely different experiences. Universal can’t replace Disney anymore than Disney can replace Universal. Personally, I think all the parks will open.

Excellent! Exactly how I feel. I've been to Universal several times and enjoyed a few things, but I don't do roller coasters or any intense motion experiences. I will probably go back at some point, but in conjunction with other family wanting to go, not for my own planned holiday.

Disney is where I want to be. Not sure I will go soon. I have a vacation booked in November and a day booked in July (I'm DVC) which I will probably give up. Will probably lose some points but my health is most important.

Not sure if this has been brought up but in regards to resorts possibly staying closed...you can only purchase a dining plan staying on property. I would think the dining plan is a really big money maker and they would want to be selling that upon reopening. Also Epcot being closed would affect dining plan options as well possibly? And yes this fits my narrative of wanting the resorts and all parks open so there’s that.

My first guess was made way back in March, the day they announced closure when I texted my daughter and said, no worries, that June/July trip is perfectly safe- not a chance they'll still be closed more than a few weeks. There's wrong and then there's WRONG. Guess I won't be getting that big fact check for being the internet's best guesser.

I think the bigger question mark with the Dining Plan is how many of the restaurants are able to open and at what capacity. Some of the table service restaurants may have to open at less than 50% capacity to accommodate spacing between the tables.

I want to put down my $2 before post time.

I do not have any upcoming trip plans. All I know is what I read on these Dis threads. I still have no idea how DVC works. And I am naive and gullible.

I'm placing my bet on:
Soft open June 15 (CMs then AP, media, invited guests)
Open to general public June 22
Epcot remains closed until mid to late August.
Transportation and hotels none to extremely limited for soft open (they have to get people to MK gates).
On June 22, most hotels open (some still closed pending NBA/MLS needs)
On June 22, at least some forms of Disney transportation open - I just don't see how they can expect everyone to drive everywhere. That would be the absolute non-negotiable deal breaker for me.

There's my bet, which I will most certainly get wrong.

I am guessing that the resorts will be open no later than June 27, due to that is the first date for the original free dining that was released on January 2.
