Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

May i again suggest sending Disney an email. I know it might not do anything but if they receive a high number of emails on ther same subject that is all documented.
As for me im waiting for this weeks meeting to occur, if they don't announced anything, I'm sending another email. These forums are all good for venting and speculating but they do very little to solve anything

Is it safe to say that anyone claiming that CM's are being told August right now is fibbing? Someone else said they knew a handful of CM's and they have been told nothing. I would like to at least still feel like anything is possible. If the probability seems high of August being accurate, I'd like to cancel now and find another place to go. We've had oursellves a bad year even before covid and need something to look forward to. Even if it's Universal lol.

If I were you and wanted to go to WDW this summer, I would not make the decision to move my trip based on a rumor or CM hearsay. August could be right. It could be wrong. I personally would not make a change based on rumor.

If you are sick of the uncertainty and want a sure thing, I would cancel. Otherwise I would wait for a plan from Disney before making changes.

Let's say they do not open until the end of August. Do you think it will still be a gradual opening at that time or all four parks? Our trip starts Labor Day weekend.

Correct me if I am wrong....But didn't the NBA players say they wanted to finish the season and would do so in quarantine only if they can have their families with them? If this is the case, they will need additional space, entertainment, and concierge staff. Makes me think that CR could be used to house the NBA players and families. CSR could be used to house all NBA staff, media, and their families (as well as MLS if they are playing at the same time). The concierge staff from all deluxe resorts would be concentrated to attend to the needs of guests at the CR.

To keep the bubble closed but still provide entertainment to NBA families, I could see them keeping a park closed to the public each day for use only by NBA families and staff families and include water parks in that rotation.

I could see the NBA players, families, staff starting to arrive the last week of June for team practices. Once games start in mid-July, DVC opens up. Beginning of August, resorts/parks open to general public. It would give Disney time to stage individual park openings and gradual staff recalls as well as ramping up supplies and supply chains needed to run before going full capacity.

The public backlash for this would be astronomical!!!

I don’t get this. I mean it’s not like they’re saying “we were going to open in June but we’re delaying opening to public to host NBA.” They could honestly not feel it’s safe to open to general public until August or later and I don’t blame them. But hosting the nba is a smaller group, easier to control, would be a good test run and would bring in revenue for them.

I understand that completely, but stop accepting reservations and expecting people to pay for their trips they can’t take because Disney keeps moving the goal posts. Tell the public we are definitely closed for trips and reservations for the summer. It’s not that hard

This doesn't keep the bubble closed unless they're staffing the parks with cast members who are also quarantined with the players. I know it's difficult to imagine families going to Disney World without making use of the parks, but the only way they can maintain the bubble that they're going to Disney to create is to only have the players interacting with people who have been quarantined with them. If they go to the parks staffed by people who are out and about in the world living their lives and interacting with the general public, that defeats the whole purpose of what they're doing.

what if they require masks and social distancing same as when they open to public?

Still seems unnecessarily risky to me considering social distancing and mask wearing don't guarantee you won't contract COVID, they just lower the risk. Opening up shops and parks and eateries where the general public has been touching everything and breathing everywhere and then letting quarantined families interact with cast members who have worked with the people who have been touching everything and breathing everywhere and then letting those quarantined families go back into a quarantined area seems like it defeats the purpose of bringing everyone to Disney for the bubble (and it breaks the quarantine), but who knows what they'll wind up doing.

The NBA will be there to work. The amount of staff and/or families that will be free to go to the parks will be minuscule compared to a soft opening.

I agree however they aren't going to quarantine the families without entertainment. I also don't think they would have 100% of the park attractions, eateries, and shops open for them either. They can't guarantee no one will contract covid but just take extra protections to minimize exposure. I am sure there will be tons of medical staff on site doing daily testing and they will most likely have procedures in place for any VIP guests who are displaying symptoms.

There’s no guarantee families travel with the players. NHL is looking to have no families once they restart the season. Nothing has been stated, factually, that NBA is going to have families or not. Just rumors that the Players Association wants families (but that’s a bargaining issue).

Great...now I'm starting to envision a select group of CM's that know the workings of many of the rides, staying in the NBA bubble and conducting super VIP tours nightly at different attractions to keep the players and families entertained. I know how crazy that sounds but that's what happens without anything to go on.

Maybe CR is not available to move CSR guests there, if the NBA will be staying at CSR. Maybe CL is not available to absorb CSR CL guests. I don't know, but it seems this all happened yesterday? After the NBA deal looks like it will happen? Just a thought
This could be it -because I noticed that Bay Lake has availability. So, if you are closing CR for teams, you would have to close Bay Lake too. But if you are holding back on CR to move CSR -- then it makes sense to have Bay Lake open. Just my 2 cents.

I'm thinking along the same lines. It might be limited areas of one park or another, or other events.
Disney can make all sorts of specialized magical experiences for a price.
