Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

A local restaurant is not the same as an international destination like Disney. They cannot and will not look at local policies to make conclusions because it is apples and oranges. They are going to be very conservative about this. They have to be to protect themselves.

I didn't just say local, there are so many factors at play and the next couple months will say a lot.

I’m less Disney related deal breakers and more pandemic based ones.

The one that goes without saying is the border related issues as a non US citizen. Without that I don’t even have the option. Will also NOT travel if travel health insurance won’t cover COVID-19 related expenses in the US. Won’t travel with a quarantine period in effect when we return. And lastly and probably most importantly, no travel for me until the places I want to go to are further down their curve. I will do my best to not contribute to an outbreak here as well as keeping my family as safe as I reasonably can. A vaccine or reliable treatment would likely change that but I am not banking on them.

Once those are better, I think there’s a good chance the masks are gone from Disney anyways, because I have no desire to have my kids wear them all day in parks (without kids I could probably be swayed under the right circumstances).

Pretty much the same from UK travel restrictions no insurance cover, main reason for wanting to not getting any younger won't have many more trips so want to get in as many as safely possible

I find the process to be much smoother at Universal.

I wish they would switch over to xray machines anyway - just smoother and simplier to just make everyone do the same thing vs some people getting selected for walking through the metal detectors and others not and then inconsistency of how the bag checks are done, etc.

I know in the past the reason Disney does it this way was said to be they find it more personable and less "cold" (and thus more "magical", etc.) but I think people would get used to the xray machines quick - heck they could theme then if they wanted to

The numbers could look great through August and they still aren't going to relax anything, because the CDC and other medical experts are warning about a possible winter surge and we won't know if that happens until the winter is over. There is no benefit in giving people false hope about what to expect.

Interestingly this is what they do at Disneyland Paris. Checking in to the hotel - go through X ray (including checked bags), going to the parks x-ray. It does go more quickly than making everyone open their bags, etc.
I know Disney World is bigger, but the number of lines and speed is crazy at a busy time.

The pools being closed might be a deal breaker for us since we are staying at BCV. Galaxy's Edge being closed might be as well. Everything else I do not mind. Mask being worn outside I would not be happy about but might be willing to try it.

I feel like this is me as well—no pool and no indoor rides (especially RoTR) would be dealbreakers.

Like i said, if the bius driver is able to do it, it shouldn't be hard, it really only takes seconds to screen each person
And then if someone's temp is high they would need to go to ther front desk to recheck

Missed the news that they terminated all their employees back in March, not furloughed, bet they have to hire an all-new staff and train them, that will take a bit.

It’s just like everything else. There are people on here who I agree with, people on here I don’t. That’s life some follow rules some don’t. If we disagree on likes, dislikes, risks, treatments etc. like I said that’s life
And each person has to decide if they want to go to Disney and could be influenced in their decision by a thousand different things. To each their own. Under the circumstances as presently expected I would postpone. If somebody would go, great
But the troubling and disheartening thing here is not the disagreement. It’s the need of some to paint the opposite view as stupid, afraid to live life, and any other negative term. I find the “open and up and go asap” crew to generally be dismissive and condescending towards the more cautious group. Not all. Emblematic of what’s going on in the US with just about everything. Prison of 2 ideas. Open up and kill people or stay closed and kill people financially. No room for nuance, open safely and cautiously. I appreciate you guys and the countless others here who can reasonably discuss this stuff. As for the others, that is what “ignore” is for

Disney stated that Splitsville, the NBA experience, and the movie theater won’t be opening for a while.

It’s close enough to how the airport works that it’s fast. People know what to expect.

It's highly likely some of the restaurants/shops in Disney Springs sadly never re-open. A lot of restaurants close down for lesser problems than not being open for 2 months. Hopefully a lot of the restaurants at DS are "big" enough to have had the deep pockets to ride this out.

I just wonder after the initial "curiosity" is over and people come the first week to check it out, just how many people are really going to go there with all the restrictions in place and if these restaurants shops will even find it worth staying open with such reduced traffic.

It's highly likely some of the restaurants/shops in Disney Springs sadly never re-open. A lot of restaurants close down for lesser problems than not being open for 2 months. Hopefully a lot of the restaurants at DS are "big" enough to have had the deep pockets to ride this out.

If they consider pawing through my belongings more personal than a machine I’m just thankful they didn’t carry that to person searches versus walking through a metal detector.

Yeah I don’t see DS being a huge draw until the resorts and parks are reopened. It will fill up the first week and a bit more on weekends, but it’s going to be a veritable ghost town during the week.

Disney springs is a bigger destination than citywalk for locals, not only for unique dining that varies depending on your budget but because of the "mall" type stores. Instead of going to Mall at Millennia lots of locals prefer going to DS.

On the flipside, there is no benefit to say there is going to be a "second wave" when nobody knows if this is true. But I know the media wants to keep the fear alive.
