Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I would guess that the thinking would be "I've spent so much money on this trip, I'm not going to waste it sitting in the hotel room"

Yeah, I've done it. I've picked up some wretched colds while at Disney and I wasn't about to waste the last day or two of my tickets or miss out on what we had planned. Gluhwein is more effective than cough medicine, I've found.

Turns out my brother in law did it back in February. He was sick for most of their trip but still went to the parks.

Difference is, the non smoking is a Disney policy. It’s not part of a union agreement.
Ok.. not sure how this changes anything. Things are still going to get missed. There is never going to be 100% compliance, 100% of the time.

I agree, but I've seen countless posts over the years of people who get sick (or their kids do) right before a planned Disney trip and they go anyway because they don't want to cancel. People absolutely show up with fevers and other symptoms.

I don’t run fever very often, but it knocks me down when I do. I can’t even move.

That's fine for locals and Disney Springs but what about a family of 5 who flies down and one of the children gets an ear infection part way through? They all checked their temp before heading to the airport but now they are stuck. The larger the family the bigger the chance something like this can happen. Maybe it's just another penalty for having a larger family today but it stinks.
Only about half of those kids with an ear infection will run a temperature, but a kid with an earache and fever probably ought not be running around the parks and most likely wouldn't feel like it anyway. Getting sick at WDW has always sucked. What saved us when my grandson got sick at WDW was that we were a large family and took turns staying at the resort with him.

Disney asks guests to check their temp before they arrive at the park. Therefore every party should travel with a thermometer and check temps of everyone before leaving their room. What you chose to do with the data you receive is up to you.

I'd scream bloody murder on a ride if I had an ear infection. And I'm an adult lol.

Has happened to me on three different 8 day trips to Disney. I got sick that last day or the day before. I ended up not going to the parks that last day on all three trips just due to the fact I felt so crappy, but the damage was done. I'd been an asymptomatic spreader for days at that point. It's the nature of a crowded location especially with virus's that are spread by air and surfaces. When I'm going to Disney I use a lot of hand sanitizer, take lots of bathroom breaks to wash my hands and I avoid touching my face, yet I still get sick. I do what I can and hope for the best.

That is part of the risk you assume when choosing to go to Disney right now. If a family is uncomfortable with that risk, they need to travel at a different time. Unfortunately, that is just the situation we are in.

Trust me, most of us are. Some of the stuff I’ve read here is appalling.
Yep, we absolutely are. The mandates are in place for a reason. People and businesses going against that are in no way funny and will not only set us back but will possibly cost people their lives in the process. It’s not a game.

So if you have a temp of 100.4 or higher you aren't allowed, what if its 100 degrees outside already or 90+?
How will they even be able to accurately measure temps?
I am not an expert or a medical person, but I would imagine that if its already hot outside taking temps won't work.

That's not really how internal temperatures work though so you shouldn't be worried. Our bodies are designed to regulate our internal temperatures regardless of the external temp and unless something is wrong with your body, your internal temp shouldn't vary more than 1 degree or so. For example, we still swim in pools that are set to temperatures lower than 90 degrees, but if our internal body temperature fell below 96 degrees we would be considered to have mild hypothermia and a degree or two more would mean we were in a life-threatening situation. Even on a blistering hot and humid Florida summer day, you would have a lot more to worry about healthwise if your temperature rose above 100.4 degrees on the walk from the car to the gates than not being allowed into the park.

If you have a temperature above 100.4 degrees, regardless of whether its due to COVID, that is a sign your body is not well and its probably best not to put it through a day at a Disney park anyways. Some might see it as an unfair or arbitrary or even paternalistic policy, but health professionals have suggested that cutoff because 100.4 degrees is an internal temperature that has concerning health implications no matter what the cause.

I feel for you guys ! I am from Palm Beach County at the very north so not bad here but we worry about sourhern visitors! You guys get to worry about the entire country and they don’t seem to get they could cause major damage to locals if it causes a spike and shuts down businesses again as well as illness!
For me, Floridians put me at risk more than I do them. There are many states with better stats than Florida. The problem, the economy in FL is dependent on tourism. Without the big 2 opening, it’s not going to get better. I don’t know the perfect solution, but things can’t continue as they are.

There's no logic to think that each human being is going to follow each mandate or rule to the letter.

I've been watching the Citywalk videos and I'm pretty sure those are folks that live in Florida that weren't following social distancing.

Then let's all not follow the rules and let happen what happens

The alternative to that is to let someone who is potentially sick in to the park to infect the other guests. I agree it's a rough situation, but that's a risk people must take to go on a Disney vacation while the virus is around.

Not letting them in on the spot that`s fair and warranted. But they can be tested for COVID maybe? If the test comes back negative they should be allowed in. In my opinion.
