Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

that is conservative. It will probably be a higher number of people not wearing them correctly/safely. Just common sense and i have seen it in manufacturing. Keep an eye on Disney Springs but that just depends on how many people are outside in the heat.

I certainly expect to see people not wearing them properly or pulling them down from time to time - I get that. More the people that think they are "above the rules" or don't like the rule and there for won't follow it and don't care if they are encroaching on other people, etc. Maybe I am an optimist but I don't see it being anywhere near 50% of people that say "wearing a mask isn't needed/can't be done so I won't even try"

Sorry in advance if this has already been asked.
Any predictions on how the resorts might look after reopening? Less capacity? do you think the pools will be open?
and
Any predictions on If the parks open at less capacity will resort guests have first crack at admission or first-come-first-serve?
Thanks from Buffalo NY

No one knows. Only speculation at this point.

I think the point, regardless of more or less than 50%, is that all people aren't going to follow it 100% of the time. If anyone feels that seeing that would bother them so much or would cause them to be afraid, they, too, should probably wait a bit until visiting.

Chapek pretty much confirmed that parks will be opening at a reduce capacity. Shanghai opened to 25-30% capacity (can't remember exact number). He also said that it's based on typical attendance, rather than capacity levels. Most days at MK are something like 70% capacity. So we're looking at 25-30% of that.

Unfortunately we don't know what the actual occupancy levels are of the parks - so we can only speculate what that will look like.

Personally, I would not have any issues with ANY meet and greets outside. I am not worried of the virus being spread with short (and potentially still somewhat distance) close contact with a character outside. Especially with kids (who are VERY minimally affected by the virus). I think the jury is still out on how easily this thing spreads via the air .. especially outside.

Waiting in a queue in an indoor space is another thing (confined space, air conditioning blowing and recirculating the air). But meeting Buzz in Tomorrowland, Merida in her alcove, the Toy Story Gang in TSL or any characters on the Town Square should be good. Have sanitizing stations before and after you meet the character. Treat it like a petting zoo. :).
Granted outdoor M&Gs are pretty rough during the summer, but that would keep the lines down, thus less crowded and more distant.

That would be one thing for the guests, who would be there for a couple minutes and sanitize their hands right before and after, but what about Merida herself? Does she wear a mask? Does she get hand sanitizer in between each family? How does that work without breaking character? And how do you ask the "friends" of Merida to take that risk with their own health and their families that they would impact if they caught this? You can't "treat it like a petting zoo" because the Disney CMs aren't goats and sheep. At most, maybe something like the post you were responding to, where a couple families could come into her courtyard area and she stays up on the platform for a quick greeting of some sort without physical contact. For fur characters, maybe it's less of a risk than the face characters because they have the barrier of their suits, but even then, the question of how to sanitize the suits comes into play and that's just a lot of physical contact with a lot of people.

I agree 100% - if you need to see 100% of the people following the protocols 100% of the time, then probably best to not go - it's about reducing the risk not eliminating it

I just see a difference between a scenario of ~95% of the people at least trying to follow the rules and one where 50% of the people not caring/thinking not needed

It is why I don't plan on visiting Disney or any theme park til next year. It blows my mind how so many keep coming up with ways to get around wearing a mask. Its not just the mask thing, its also how most don't seem to care enough to follow physical distancing. Just cause things are opening doesn't mean that the pandemic is over.

I think the fact that universal has designated a number of employees to specifically confront this issue would indicate that they are well aware that there will be resistance and are preparing more senior level employees to enforce it. That would indicate to me that they plan to do just that, enforce it.
I never said they wouldn't enforce it... if only upper level personnel is able to enforce, however, changes things a bit. I always see people smoking in Disney parks, but very rarely see any CM's addressing the issue. My point was a lot of things will get missed.

I am curious to see what happens when someone has a temp check and is told they can't enter. What if someone has a temp above 100.4 for another reason? It could be a bacterial infection (ear infection, UTI, etc), heat exhaustion, rheumatiod arthritis, and the list goes on. It doesn't mean the guest is contagious or has covid. Are they going to be required to disclose their condition to Guest Services to try and get a waiver of some sort? Will they need a doctor's note? It really opens a can of worms.

When opening as less capacity I would think resort guest would have first crack at park entrance over non-Disney resort folks
That is very likely, but there has not been any official announcement about how Disney will manage who is allowed to enter.

Any predictions on If the parks open at less capacity will resort guests have first crack at admission or first-come-first-serve?

While it hasn’t been addressed by Disney yet, I think it would make the most sense to create a priority of admission based on:
1. Disney Resort guests
2. Guests with an ADR in a park
3. APs

I think trying to do date-based tickets like they did in Shanghai would be a disaster at WDW, although I could see having a reservation system for non-resort APs like they did for the GE preview. And I could see Hoppers being temporarily suspended/ Disney asking guests with ticket in their resort package to choose which park they’d like to use on which days to better predict/manage capacity per park.

But I can’t see how they could just make attendance a free-for-all based on date with no consideration for how many people have made their plans in advance.

Simple: They can’t enter. No exceptions. Not “fair” but operationally and legally the easiest for Disney to manage.

Tomorrow is my 60 day fast pass day, has anyone had any problems booking fast passes in July yet?

If you read the faq on the Disney springs website it states that if you're temp is higher than 100.4 you and your party will be taken to a secondary location where your temp will be checked again and if it's still over you and your party will be asked to leave.
No can of worms to open
