Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Nice find!
  • temperature tent makes a lot more logistical sense than one person at a time with a infrared temp gun
  • "entering at the time allocated to us" prevent rope-drop insanity
  • regular park security "here our bags were checked" OY! Are they still cheeping out on checking bags by hand?! I have no idea what bag check involves in Shanghai, anyone else know...?
  • I like the idea of character shows if meet and greats are out, would play better to US audiences than to Shanghai's so I know while we shouldn't read into it I'd personally love to see that
  • The attendance limit could have been as low as 400 people- yikes. That opening didn't math out if the blogger is right...?

I thought the same thing about the bag checks - how does it really work? I know they show a bit of it in the preview video, but are the security guards changing their gloves after each bag?

BTW - is that really "cheaping out"? Wouldn't it be more expensive to pay for more people than for the x-ray machines? I thought Disney preferred this method as they thought is was more "personable"? (obviously would be a initially cost to put in the machines, I am thinking more long term)

Regarding the 400 people I gotta think that is just the authors taking creative liberty and that it "felt like only 400 people" ... I know the figures thrown out so far were that typical capacity at the park was 80,000 and the 30% the government would allow would then be 24,000 but that DIsney was going to start below that and work up to 24,000. ... let's say they start at 1/2 of that, it would be 12,000 people which I am sure if you are used to 80,000 people only 12,000 people might "feel" like only 400

I`m so envy the US cancellation policy. Here in the UK we can`t cancel without loosing our deposit (£50/person) at all. AND! Full payment is due 56 days in advance. That`s booking directly with Disney.

And usually we go for 2-3 weeks (I think no one goes from UK for a couple of days only) playing with dates is just not an option for us. Our holiday days are requested well in advance, flight tickets booked well in advance (which is quite expensive anyway)...

I could swallow loosing the deposit and cancel our holiday 57 days in advance that`s one thing. But how on earth would I be making a decision 56 days in advance when no one knows what will happen in 56 minutes?!

For now we can`t even enter the US from UK...

I`m just sitting here hoping for the best and going crazy :)

That does make things hard...
How are things for DLP for you in the UK? Does it work the same way? Not that I know what is happening with DLP, but at least that’s closer and maybe airline tickets are less expensive.

That reminds me of when I asked a group of Brits two years ago what DLP was like and I got a dumbfounded look and the answer, "we've never been to DLP, it's in France." :confused3 No joke, just relaying what I got as an answer from one group.

@buckeyeguy1 got the rewind on the mask quote from Chapek in the CNBC interview this morning

“Along with social distancing, one of the things were likely going to require is masks from both the cast and the guests. And I think the masks for the guests will be something that culturally is different. In Asia as you know, it’s fairly commonplace, even before covid for folks to walk around in public with masks on. That is not the case in the US. So that will be something that will be a little trying I think for some of the guests. Particularly in the hot, humid summers we intend to have”

I am wondering if there will be a failure to comply tally system for guests that don't adhere to WDW's guidelines (maybe there already is one is DLS)? I do not know how it could be implemented, but my concern as a guest would be those other guests that may repeatedly violate the safety measures.
My concern is the other guests are too dumb to use a mask right which I see all over my town. They'll touch it and then touch something, put their mask in their purse or pocket between uses, they'll touch something and then touch the inside of their mask... making themselves sick increases the odds I get sick...

Worse than that so many leave their noses uncovered.

Sorry if I missed this somewhere, but who is this a quote from?

Well that`s a really funny thing ...
We can book directly with Disney in two ways
-with the very same company who sells WDW hotels/packages (we have same booking conditions for room only and packages) and the booking conditions same as the WDW vacations
(I can get to their side if I go to WDW website than try to book a vacation, this is when the website transfer you to WDW offical UK site - we can`t stay on the US version anymore, used to we could- here I can choose to book different parks ie DLP)
-there is another Disney company who you can book with, same booking conditions apply and they charge you a lot of administration fee also
(I can get there If I google for DLP in the UK, then I end up DLP official UK booking site)

It
took me a while to find these two options but since than I saved a lot of money on the administration fees.

So we have the same booking (cancellation) policy both for WDW and DLP.

But that`s true to get to DLP is much more cheaper and no need to book well in advance.

Too bad I`m in love with WDW and can`t live without it :)

PS DLP will open later than WDW I`m sure of it
PS2 I already booked for WDW this year

Only Disney knows the answer to cheaping out vs preference so yeah, I'm pontificating lol

I think 400 was very wrong after the Chapek interview, he mentioned ramping the attendance cap 5000 people/week until they reach allowable levels but I came in late to the interview and didn't get the whole quote...

even 5,000 is really low - not saying incorrect, but if 80,000 is typical day, 5,000 is like 6% of a normal day!

In my area we can’t get people to wear masks—it is mandatory in salons and gyms but in regular stores hardly anyone wears one. We also have a lot of “ this is a hoax and the government can’t control me” attitude though

The NFL released they schedule last week still planning on starting on time. They do have contingencies if they can't but right now NFL is still preparing for an on-time start.

The person I quoted said something else. I am well aware that the schedule came out.

400 might've been the number of media people, sheesh, and I got stopped one time at Disney Springs when I wasn't even talking to any guests while streaming, yesterday I saw like 50 people surround the dad with girl on shoulders and not let them move

For the Disney should require/recommend masks, when should they stop recommending, when new cases are below what number?
