Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I was reading a few of you cancelled your June trips. I keep debating cancelling my 6/21 reservation and re-booking for mid July. I am just worried it might be too hot for me being pregnant...not like June isn't hot lol. I'm really trying to wait it out and see if it gets cancelled, but I also want to have a back up trip elsewhere if it doesn't open. We haven't been since November I'm dying to get back, we wouldn't be able to go until February due to baby. I would even be fine going without the parks open and doing DS and resort. However, I don't think it would even be worth it financially to them to open resorts without the parks. I also did not get a survey! It's funny it's like they know those of us holding on to our reservations and are ready to go aren't getting surveys.

If I were you, I'd push back to July. IMO it gives more room for error - it gives Disney more time to open. Right now we really don't know when that is, so it may be nice to have more wiggle room in your trip.

Thanks for posting. That was a good summary, and I really appreciated their honest opinions - a few good things and several not-so-good things happening. Outside of some of the anticipated issues with guests not always following rules, this is the part that resonated with me:
"Disney can’t compete with other parks if it’s only offering rides, because none of Disney’s rides are the fastest, funnest, or most extreme. It’s the characters, the memories, the atmosphere, the theming and most of all the shows and parades that make the Disney difference. So while the rides were fun today, just walking around and listening to the music and enjoying the theming was definitely the high point of my day.
Is that worth the price of admission? Certainly not, but since I have an annual pass, it was well worth my time."
Having realistic expectations about what the parks may be like upon re-opening should help those planning to attend, and this article gave some insight about what it MIGHT also be like here.

At this point .. I'd just wait.

Wait until they either announce IF they are going to be open for your trip and IF they are, what things will look like. I have a trip starting June 15th and just holding onto that reservation waiting for the same things.

If they cancel, I just reschedule later in the year with whatever promo they give me.

If they are open, but I just don't feel like the modified experiences are worth the money I am going to spend, I will just cancel myself and rebook later in the year.

While I was hesitant to pull my son out of school this year for our trip (thus the June date), I have changed my mind on that. Life is too short, things change and missing a week of school is nothing in the grand scheme of things (considering he is pretty much missing 3 months of "real" school when this is all said and done. So I will rebook Septebember, October, November .. December .. whatever looks good (and who knows what will look good with this virus).

My wife, the trooper she is, took our daughter to WDW when she was 5 months old and it was a fun trip, so don't be worried about going after the baby is born.

However, does Disney really need to compete? They actually need less guests initially, as do other parks, so the spread of attention between experiences of choice might be a good consequence this summer at any rate.

I agree, hopefully if you go October or November/December you can hit one of the parties. We did the MVMCP this past November and it was so much fun! Wait times were short and the weather very cool temps at night for the parks and party. Thank you for the hope, we plan on going in February for my 30th birthday and our baby will be 5.5-6 months. I think it's do-able but people think I'm crazy haha.

Our trip starts July 8, and a July 7 opening is a little too close for comfort if that is indeed what they're doing. I'm thankful we can drive if Delta messes with our flights, but man this is getting too stressful for me.
My thots from the get-go were that WDW would open MK after 4th of July. It’s crowded then but has always struck me as more pockets of people congregated in specific areas. Opposite of Thanksgiving crowds where it busy everywhere.

IMO If the first MNSSHP is to happen, they need to be open at least 3 - 4 weeks prior to see if opening causes hotspots in transmission I’ve thought on this at length as we are supposed to be arriving on 8/7.

Likely, many others are also watching carefully, and will hurriedly reschedule cancelled travel to try to work in a trip before fall sessions of school resume once they see how the first wave of visitors fare.

Haven’t given up even though cancelled DVC reservation & banked my points. Rebooked a value room only thru CRO as a placeholder reservation, but also will book a cancellable reservation at Myrtle Beach the same week, where we could drive if necessary.

Agree 100%

Same here. If my son misses his birthday at Disney in July, he is going to get Halloween instead. I normally wouldn’t pull him out of school, but after all of this......life is too short and we need a slower pace ❤️

What's the other reason? I'm August myself and waffle about going every day!
We're in a similar boat. We have a reservation at the end of September and I spent all of last week going back and forth as to whether we should try to go or just cancel now so that we're done with the uncertainty. We basically ended up setting a date when we're going to decide whether to cancel the trip or not. It's a DVC stay, so we've set 31 days prior to our check in as our decision date as that is the last day we could cancel without our points going in to holding. We're just going to look at the restrictions in place in late August (I fully believe the parks will be open by then) and make our decision based off of that. I was driving myself nuts going back and forth last week.

Our son has been begging to be at Disneyworld on his actual birthday for the past two years. Im trying to make that happen for him:genie:. As far as the reduced capacity crowds , I don't think this will be something that we will see again, unless we all see another pandemic in our lifetime. Disneyworld is magical even with the crowds, but I think there would actually be something special about being able to go to parks on multiple days without having to worry about crowds.

Am I the only person who finds is weird to mark the places they shouldn't stand in the queues?

To me it makes more sense to mark where you should stand (similar to how they mark spots in the queue loading area of some rides)
I think this is a cultural thing. In one of the videos I saw they said when testing things at Shanghai they found it worked better there to mark where guests shouldn’t stand vs. where they should.

You know, now that you mentioned that I do remember that being said in the video, Thank you!
The cultural difference thing makes it more understandable to me now.

Shanghai had dated tickets, anyone know how does ticketing work for Shanghai going forward, is it still dated ticket purchases only and for how long? Does that park have AP holders? Is the ticketing situation for Shanghai something that is usually comparable to DL (prior to current situation) or is it unique just to Shanghai? I've never been to the overseas parks, so don't know anything about their ticketing. Wondering if they are using it as a model that may be used in DL.
