Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

And this is why wdw is going to have a heck of a time reopening. They know people are inherently selfish and won’t care to keep themselves or others safe. If you don’t like a place that requires masks, don’t go there until the mask requirement is lifted.

Good heavens, It has nothing to do with selfishness....We'll just be vacationing as normal.

We love Disney Springs and Citywalk and rarely, if ever go in to the stores there. We spend our time walking, predominately at SSR & to/from DS, listening to music, there's always a lot of eating and a lot of drinking. It's pretty clear that masks will not be required when eating or drinking, so we are simply choosing to do our normal thing during our stay. If that offends people, then it is what it is.

Will I keep 6 or more feet away from people? Certainly, but I suppose that all really hinges on how the restaurants have set themselves up, Because that's where we'll be. :)

Its not even about the masks for me at this point. Like I said before I work in a grocery store. I am physically and mentally exhausted from all of this. Its hard to see so many people not care about other people's health. Its not hard to stay 6 ft from others. That's why I hope Disney and all parks really enforce the rules.
I don’t disagree with you. While I am in the Disney will not require masks. If it was required I have enough respect to follow the rules. A lot of people don’t or others have mentioned get caught in a instance of not following the rules that isn’t their fault. IMO it is going to be hard to force all of it in a place as big as Disney. I wish people can be respectful but fact is a lot of people aren’t. That means people have to go in expecting the rules not to be followed completely and be ok with that.

I do agree on rules, but exactly how would you accomplish this one?

Anyway, what happens when your standing in line and somebody backs into your area (lets even say 5 feet from you) and Disney tosses you (because they grew a set) because you were within 6 feet when they looked your way. Or you backed up because they did-and they saw you moving into someone's space.

I think that's where virtual queues come in. Minimal people in line. Its understandable for it to happen in queues. Where is can be enforced is in the walkways and stores.

OK so 6 feet only applies in stores and walkways?

I think Disney can get most guests to comply if they do it right. Not just rely on putting their rules, but getting their guests to accept the rules. I posted this on the other thread, but I’ll repeat it here.

I can imagine WDW playing a safety video in MDE, their website, magical express, park entrance, etc., that has characters illustrating appropriate and inappropriate safety measures. Like Goofy not putting on his mask correctly, not following social distance procedures, forgetting to wash and sanitize hands, and Mickey showing how to do it right.

If they use their amazing imagineering skills, they can open and get it right - get visitors to comply with the rules and have it be in the fun, Disney spirit. If anyone can make it fun and less onerous, it’s Disney.

I don't doubt they will do a good job, and get it pretty close.

But there is zero chance nobody in all of WDW 12 hours a day, will ever get within 6 feet of somebody else.

And if the new rule is now strictly adhered to and a Patrol officer (which it will require) sees somebody to close-they have to eject both parties.

It would apply everywhere. Your example would where Disney would me more understanding if what you described happens.
Yeah your right. It would apply everywhere. Expect for places where it doesnt apply. And DIsney should grow a pair and kick people out based on when it does and doesnt apply. But certain places there is more leniency than others. But in shops and walkways they should be strict. So when a couple of siblings are having fun with one another and steps into your 6 foot bubble and causes you to have an anxiety attack does Disney grow a pair and kick us out then or no? Or do they kick you out for not anticipating my kids stepping into your bubble and you not moving an extra foot back?

You have bold strong opinions on how it should be done. But when pressed on how you would do it you bend and dont give straight answers. The answers to that is because its a tough situation. The best that can be done is to advise social distancing. Then as a customer who CHOSE to be there take a second and realize that all of that is going out the window the second people start walking through those gates. Ive seen your opinions for the last few weeks over all of this. You may not want to schedule a disney trip for a long long time because im not sure you could handle one.

That’s why it’s so important to have multiple measures in place. One measure by itself won’t be totally effective and may not be possible at all times. Putting on face coverings, following the social distancing guidelines, washing hands / sanitizing after every ride, using contactless ordering and payment, all *together* can minimize the spread.

Agreed totally. But that's far from "growing a pair" and kicking folks out for entering someones 6 foot space.

Yes, very different indeed. My opinion on this is that Disney will very much try to get guests to comply in much more subtle ways, by using their characters and humor to get them to want to comply.

Exactly.

And I'm curious how you keep an eye on 25,000 (or more) people every second for 12 hours straight-AND be prepared to evict them right then and there.

That's at a minimum a Patrol officer every 10 or maybe 20 feet in every direction through the entire park, including all stores, restaurants, attraction lines and walkways.

Then there's sorting out who's fault it really was (not that that matters since they might have passed the virus anyway), eject both to be sure, and what families are OK to have one member head back to the room-or do they all go?

Great post! From a microbiology doctors standpoint i know, him and some of his colleagues believe that social distancing and especially masks and being holed up in our houses for too long is very bad for our immune systems. Babies are protected in the womb, so when they are born what does a baby do a lot.......put their hands in their mouths. They are now building their immune systems to protect themselves. Humans are designed to take in bacteria and yes even virus and to adapt and build immune systems. This happens everyday when we are out and about and living our lives. If you avoid everything, wipe down every surface including your groceries with clorox wipes, wear masks indoors, outdoors even avoid other human beings you are in essence slowly destroying your immune system to the point where now you are all of a sudden more susceptible to illness, not less. Thats why people with compromised immune systems wear masks until they build their immune systems back up(if they can) not healthy people. And yes, this is also why they told us years ago to stop using anti-bacterial everything.
My concern is the amount of hand sanitizer people are now using. Yes, I think there is a place for it when hand washing is unavailable. But, people are now going to extremes with hand washing AND sanitizer. I remember hearing how too much hand sanitizer is bad because it kills not only the bad bacteria but also the good ones your body needs. There was a girl that had severe allergies and the treatment involved introducing bacteria into her body to help rebuild her immunity. Heaven help us if we get an even stronger strain of virus in the future. We have completely ruined our bodies natural defenses.

Eh why worry about them, though? Let them do whatever makes them feel better.

I hate to say it, but this whole argument is just silly. People need to make their own choices based on what makes them feel safe. For being northerners, we spend a lot of time at WDW and based on typical Disney behaviors that I regularly see, people need to worry a lot more about some of those, rather than two empty-nesters eating their way through DS or CW leaving everyone else alone. (which is what we do)

That being said, I can guarantee you we won't be without food or beverage at any time in DS....we rarely are. :drinking1
