I won't put a mask on and this is precisely why hubby & I intend to always be in a restaurant or have food/drinks in our hands while we're in Disney Springs in 3 weeks.

In the end, Disney is Disney and I don’t think they’re going to put any hard rules in place that they can’t enforce passively. They’ll possibly mark distancing, put signs everywhere, hand washing or sanitizer out, limit seating for dining etc...but they aren’t going to have CM’s policing people constantly and ejecting guests. Social distancing will be a goal that at times they won’t attain. It’s going to take guests themselves to be a little more personally responsible. Then I hope they enforce physical distancing as much as possible.
That's what scares me. People can't do it now in stores imagine what it will be like at a theme park.In the end, Disney is Disney and I don’t think they’re going to put any hard rules in place that they can’t enforce passively. Most stores I have been to, Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Wal Mart etc. have the stickers for spacing but not really enforcing in any noticeable way. Even Costco who requires masks in stores, once in the stores I have seen people take them off etc. with employees seeing them and not doing anything. Disney might try to a bit more but don't expect much as it is putting CMs in confrontational situations which creates legal issues.
Here in Canada physical distancing will be in place til a vaccine or treatment comes. Im of the opinion that Mickey needs to grow a set and start enforcing rules they have in place. Other parks already evict people who have their phones out on rides.
Yes, so you have to decide if it’s worth the risk to go. There’s really no other solution. That's what scares me. People can't do it now in stores imagine what it will be like at a theme park.
I don’t know if this has been mentioned but mine is “unprecedented”Another word I can't wait to be rid of: droplets.
We are in the new normal. The new normal is that some people will follow these directions and some won't. It's impossible to police so we're going to end up in some halfway solution. It's human nature. Expect the same with Disney World when it reopens.I work in a grocery store and it really upsets me how so few take this seriously. We are in new normal now. Physical distancing is not going to go away. We may not need masks but to keep 6 ft apart is possible to do. Here in Canada physical distancing will be in place til a vaccine or treatment comes. I think the average person feels much more strongly about someone else cutting in line than someone not wearing a mask. You might get some snide comments but I can't picture many confrontations happening over it.I don‘t see it in Universal because we stay at Hard Rock and have the express pass, but I’ve seen people practically throw down in line at Disney when other guests try to skip in line. I can not even imagine the potential fights if one person isn’t wearing a mask. There is no way the cast members can police mask wearing and also prevent people from getting in arguments if someone isn’t wearing one. It’s really why I don’t believe they will mandate them.

Great post! From a microbiology doctors standpoint i know, him and some of his colleagues believe that social distancing and especially masks and being holed up in our houses for too long is very bad for our immune systems. Babies are protected in the womb, so when they are born what does a baby do a lot.......put their hands in their mouths. They are now building their immune systems to protect themselves. Humans are designed to take in bacteria and yes even virus and to adapt and build immune systems. This happens everyday when we are out and about and living our lives. If you avoid everything, wipe down every surface including your groceries with clorox wipes, wear masks indoors, outdoors even avoid other human beings you are in essence slowly destroying your immune system to the point where now you are all of a sudden more susceptible to illness, not less. Thats why people with compromised immune systems wear masks until they build their immune systems back up(if they can) not healthy people. And yes, this is also why they told us years ago to stop using anti-bacterial everything. This is a really significant point that a lot of people seem to be ignoring.
Not just newborns and toddlers, but kids, teens, and adults. And it is on topic. If we wear masks and gloves and sanitize ourselves to oblivion at theme parks and other public places, we may be causing more problems for ourselves in the long run. I know there were recommendations years ago to avoid hand sanitizer because it could ultimately weaken our immune systems.
Bacteria and viruses aren't going away. I see a lot of people talking about "adapting" to masks, but our bodies are made to adapt to viruses- but only if we let them adapt. Maybe we should be adapting to our environment rather than hiding from it?
It is a really tough call- I get that. I don't know the right answers. I go back and forth whether to have my kids sanitize, sanitize sanitize, or whether to expose them to small amounts of bacteria (and keep them away from strong, potentially dangerous chemicals in cleaners and sanitizers) that might help them in the long run.
My grandfather always said, "To keep kids healthy, you've got to let them eat a little dirt every now and then." I keep coming back to that. Maybe not literally eating dirt, but at least, being exposed to it.
It is something we need to think about, anyway.
And this is why wdw is going to have a heck of a time reopening. They know people are inherently selfish and won’t care to keep themselves or others safe. If you don’t like a place that requires masks, don’t go there until the mask requirement is lifted.I won't put a mask on and this is precisely why hubby & I intend to always be in a restaurant or have food/drinks in our hands while we're in Disney Springs in 3 weeks.![]()
Maybe then it’s best to not go. It will be impossible to Enforce all of these things. 50 % of people I see “wearing” masks aren’t even wearing them right. I call them chin masks and you can bet a lot of people’s masks won’t be on right. Do they just kick everyone out who they see? That's what scares me. People can't do it now in stores imagine what it will be like at a theme park.
Its not even about the masks for me at this point. Like I said before I work in a grocery store. I am physically and mentally exhausted from all of this. Its hard to see so many people not care about other people's health. Its not hard to stay 6 ft from others. That's why I hope Disney and all parks really enforce the rules.Maybe then it’s best to not go.
