Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I agree completely. I work at a grocery store and my new normal is being screened before I start and have to wear a mask. I just can't see how we can go from that to Disney being opened with just social distancing in place within a month.
But there is talk in there about workers wearing masks, temperature checks, and screens put up at customer service desks, so I highly doubt it will just be social distancing. They also have to have hand sanitizers pretty much everywhere. I will say, I had the virus and no one else in my house got sick and we did not scrub the house down, and pretty much just kept me in my bedroom and my husband continued to use the same bathroom and he never got sick despite me coughing all over the place. I hope most people who go really aren't sick and there is no concern, but I also know that we aren't all just going to die because they don't put up some sneeze guards.

I don't think so. He said we are already basically at Phase one in reopening. He will give the guidelines for the state in stores, restaurants, elective surgeries, parks, beaches, etc. I assume we will hear from each theme park on their own reopening procedures, but they will all be very similar
I’m wondering how soon between phases too b/c depending on other modifications & opening date, I might actually try to move trip up. 50% capacity sounds wonderful. 75% sounds closer to the usual.

Why do you think these measures are botching the reopening? They seem pretty strict to me. I think this is a reasonable approach
Other than hand sanitizer everywhere (which many people will forget or refuse to use) there doesn't sound much impact to park life at all to the average guest.

If any cases came out of Disney I promise it would have been all over the news and you know that

Only if it could be proven that it came directly from being at Disney. That's pretty much impossible. There is no way there wasn't COVID going around the parks. No masks, no social distancing, no hand sanitizer, LOTS of people from overseas. WDW is a petri dish at the best of times. That last weekend? I was surprised that many people went, knowing the risks. But i don't think a lot of them were taking it seriously.

the challenge is none of us know what is too strict vs too open, and we likely won't know until after the fact (and even then probably not)

Personally opening with 50% capacity and no mandatory face masks seems to aggressive to me to start with (feels like there is a phase missing with really small crowds and require masks and stuff - and maybe Disney will do that even if not mandated, like a soft opening)

But I also live in NY which is like ground zero for this so opening up at all seems crazy to what we are seeing on a daily basis around us - to others this approach might be plenty to make them feel comfortable

Disney just has to do enough so guests will want to go back, it is all of our responsibility and not really Disney in the way we handle going back to the park. It is their responsibility for there to be the perception that something is being done as they should being that they want all of our business. Observing in Kroger people wearing masks and constantly adjusting, touching their mask/face then touching food items vs. people not wearing masks and consciously not touching their face. To most of the world the person with the mask is perceived to be doing more to 'combat' the virus.

And, if they just "request" that guests wear masks, probably 75% won't wear them, especially in the Florida summer heat and humidity. Meanwhile you'll have CMs passing out because it's just so hard to breathe in those things; plus you're breathing in a lot more carbon dioxide. Not a good situation.

actually not that many. Don't you think if there was an outbreak from that weekend from Disney the media wouldn't have been all over that. We heard of that one gentleman that died and that was it. I'm sure more people were infected and possibly died but not to the level of an outbreak. TBH I was expecting it, I was there that whole week with all those people, when they closed I thought that we would hear about it, but it never happened. Maybe the scientists are right and outdoor, in high temps and humidity is better than indoors, who knew? :)

I agree. I was there for the opening of MMRR and it was packed.

When all this started I was watching Orlando area very carefully and looking daily at the numbers.

Thankfully no outbreak but i was definitely expecting it.

You also are assuming that all the people who visit do nothing to help. We will go in late June when our ressies are and we will adhere to many other personal safety measures. I have been going to grocery stores and Home depot and other stores each week and haven't come within 6 foot of a person (other than my family) at any time.

Masks probably aren't the answer.

But none of these measures are going to do anything towards the 2mtr distancing right from transport to park entrances, queues at entrance, spacing in shops, merchandise contamination in shops, CM protection in shops, indoor theaters.

The list is almost endless.

Park limits of 25% would have been a better start, plus a lot more detail on what else can be done for ad many of those other issues I listed.

All employees are wearing masks, hand sanitizer everywhere, wiping down all railings and surfaces, disposable menus at restaurants, seated tables six feet apart....there's a lot in here. It seems to make sense to me.

The only rumored thing that I don't see here is forcing guests to wear masks which is probably unenforceable.
