Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Important to point out that Shanghai park is not fully owned by Disney, it's majority owned by a government subsidary. So those practices in Shanghai are not put in place by Disney.

The social distancing is going to be an issue with a number of attractions at Disney World. Haunted Mansion comes immediately to mind. Pretty much any ride that has those pre-show intro videos and cram everyone into a room. Some of the attractions won't be too bad and all they need to do is stagger more. But some others will be a challenge.

But also you know how CMs like to yell at you on certain attractions if you are not like standing on top of the person in front of you? I think the biggest offender is Rockn Roller coaster. How many times I've been on there and the CMs are yelling to keep moving "until you can't see anymore carpet with the person in front of you." I don't think we will be hearing that for awhile.

I hate to say it, but if only wheelchairs are allowed, I doubt they avoid an ADA lawsuit. Someone will sue because it causes them inconvenience.

With all of these potential modifications, I think they are going to have a hard time avoiding ADA lawsuits. This situation is rife with potential ADA lawsuits.

And Disney can’t look to their non-US parks for help on this one. Any sort of perceived “disparate” or “unfair” treatment could trigger an expensive, even if frivolous, lawsuit.

I am a former lawyer, and wow, sometimes do I really hate lawyers. The fear of potential lawsuits is causing so many issues with reopening the country right now.

What I’m also interested in is how long they plan to implement the changes especially the limited attendance part. I’m sure it’ll depend on what Covid is up to but wondering when they’ll feel they can let more ppl in.

This concern was brought up during the Florida tourism task force phone meeting this morning. Not the ADA standpoint, but worry of being sued because someone picks up Covid-19 at their establishment. As one of the members said this morning, no one sues an establishment because they contract a cold, flu, etc... They don't want to be sued out of business because someone may pick up Covid-19.

Even though I have heard that hundreds of times its things like that I would miss. I do understand why we wouldn't be able to get gooshed in the room. It may not exist for a while or may be modified in some way. I would miss that more than the parades and may be even the fireworks.

on the flip side, maybe they can rework the script so it still has that traditional Haunted Mansion *feel* but fits the new conditions.

You don't have to provide the accommodations someone "wants most", but one that lets them still do something, ESPECIALLY if you have a reason for not allowing the "most desired" thing...so they'll be just fine on the law with manual only...

I thought about things like that but wasn't sure if they would do anything "death" related ... but yeah, in normal times I could see (and appreciate) stuff like that

ehhhhh... that can get sketchy too. So many different scenarios where someone might REQUIRE an ECV and can't physically use a wheelchair or have someone push them around.

Disney will find a way to have BOTH wheelchairs and ECV's.
