Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I read the whole document. I don’t see the restrictions against NY travel. I too am from NY and have never been so angry regarding this ban. I’m Not even from NYC. And even if I was from NYC - it is doing great right now. Looks like I will be going to a different airport in different state to fly to Florida.

I know if you’re driving into FL, everyone has to pull off at the state line. They ask if in the last 2 weeks have you been to the states of NY, NJ, CT, or LA recently. If you have they ask you to self quarantine. Not sure how this works for airports, but driving in, it wouldn’t matter where you started your trip, they base it off where you’ve been the last 2 weeks.

Ugh so on the fence about what to do. We are booked on the normal, original free dining that startes for stays June 27. We are booked June 26-July 4 currently. We could change it to July 1-5 if we have to but if we cancel ourselves we will probably lose the free dining? But if we wait for them to cancel, will we lose our FP’s and ADRs on those dates AND the free dining? No one knows anything so I’m just venting! Plus I don’t want to modify to just July then have them open at the end of June! 😩

I figure I'm keeping my trip and will wait for Disney to cancel me!
I would totally do this as a regular guest, but as DVC I have a couple weeks more before I need to cancel, or risk losing over 100 bankable points. As it stands, there are 40 points I will have to use or use regardless before I can plan my next trip to WDW. THIS is what frustrates me- DVC members have regulations and restrictions on the reservations. We agreed to it when we purchased, and I am NOT arguing it should not be the case. I am simply frustrated by the lack of information needed to make an informed decision in a timely manner about this trip. If I could let it ride and let Disney cancel my plans/get a refund I'd be less upset. Instead, I play the guessing game of "will they open the resorts only and I have to deal with my points being sent to holding"...

We rented points and our stay is June 26- July 4. That’s why I need to be creative how to get in Florida. Because if DVC is open, parks or no parks, there isn’t cancellation because it’s open. I’m hoping they don’t ask every person going off a plane if they have been to NY. I am a very honest person but I will have to be creative if quarentine rule extends. I can’t be out that kind of money and that expierence just because I live in state of Ny. I have been at home since March and there has been 20 cases in my rural area.

Yea that’s interesting. Is it that they have enough June reservations already to fill the parks to the rumored limited capacity? Or they don’t plan on the parks being open?
That's the perfect glass half-full/glass half-empty response :)

Or they just can't operate for a profit with the limitations.
Absolutely. They all had to upend their current models and pivot to takeout practically overnight. To change back in a week when the demand may not be there yet is dicey. I'm a small business owner myself and I do not envy the position the restaurant industry is in... but I thank them and support them at least 3x a week :)

So while I'm still going to hold on to one last shred of hope for our June 19th trip, I want to start having a backup plan in mind. I'm a school principal, so my options are limited. We could go for early to mid-July, but by the end of July we are back to getting ready for the new school year. I'm not interested in the crowds at Christmas. Thanksgiving might work, but also concerned about crowds. Anyone want to speculate about Thanksgiving week crowds this year? We would likely go from the Saturday before until the Saturday after.

I may have missed it buy perhaps @yulilin3 knows, upon landing in Florida are they checking IDs to see where people are coming from or just basing it off of the route of the flight? For instance is someone in NY flies out of PA, will that person still need to quarantine? What about if someone from IL has a layover in NY, will they need to quarantine?

I expect that to be lifted as they move into phase II, but who knows.

We hedged out bets. I left June there, added a few days in a separate reservation to our existing one- that way I can cancel without having to worry about whether I've messed up other plans and it keeps all my FP's in place, regardless of that they do. The downside is, I have a small fortune tied up in I don't even know how many reservations at this point.

I would do Thanksgiving. Past holiday crowds are no indicator for this year's crowds. The single worst job report in US history just came out and over half of households are losing some sort of income due to this. A recession is almost guaranteed. Hopefully a depression isn't. And we are still only a couple months in. My husband is a senior economist and gives me daily updates on what he's seeing as he collects and studies data from large and small businesses and to put it mildly, a WDW vacation in 2020 is not an option for the vast majority of Americans. And with international travel turned off + limited capacity in the parks for the foreseeable future, I have to imagine crowds will be the least of our issues.

Anyway, sorry for the rant! Short answer, at this point I would skip the summer unknowns and the heat and do Thanksgiving.

Yea it’s crazy. I rescheduled for next year. We have Disney Cruise booked for April 2021, so I did a stay at the Beach Club before our cruise. Our final payment is due in December for the cruise, so hopefully we know things better by then. I may do a split stay and cancel the cruise though. My husband doesn’t want to yet.

And we did a May 2021 reservation at the Wilderness Lodge as well.

They did say that it’ll take a bit to get some of what I paid back since I only did a $200 deposit on both reservations.

I was just reading on DFB that the free dining offer for those affected by the closures with cancelled trips is no longer being offered. Do you think they’ll give some sort of offer to those being cancelled in June? I still want to go on my trip if they’re open!

So Disney is either not opening in June or determined that they'll allow only those still booked to attend to see what they can do with a limited crowd. Not opening in June seems more likely, but everyone is guessing.

Yep

Someone posted in one of these threads that their May trip went into June by a few days and the whole thing was canceled. I don't know why they wouldn't have called them to move the dates a little if they were going to open in early June.
