Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

They didn't specify if it was "required" though. Always ambiguous Disney!!!
It's pretty clear in the article. It says they will "begin to reopen in a way that incorporates enhanced safety measures, including ... the use of appropriate face coverings..."

For my group we moved our start date from May 31 to June 1. Our travel agent said The cast member didn't give me much info but did agree that the June 1st check in would be helpful in hanging onto the reservation for now. We'll see what flushes out now....:earsboy:

I think it’s significant that they’ve mentioned, however vague it may be, some of what we can expect in regards to the parks and resorts on the DS website. It’s entirely possible they’ll open the Disney owned businesses and the parks at the same time.

why wouldn’t they mention the parks?

There will be folks saying "Well that's just DS, they'll never do that in the parks."

Shopping centers are different than parks. But because it’s a shopping center owned by Disney, the tea leaves are there to be read.

Springs is a good "testing ground" for new safety and sanitary procedures. I would absolutely think they will want more than 11 days of data and experience before reopening a park. Expecting parks to open June 1st seems like an extremely quick turnaround.

This is my opinion: I think they want to open the parks real soon - but with masks for guests and minor mitigation changes made to the parks. However if they get a lot of push-back or non-compliance on masks usage at DS, they'll reevaluate their current mitigation plans and possibly push the park date out in order to make more intrusive mitigation changes within the park.

I halfway expect survey kiosks at every escalator asking how the guest felt in terms of safety and cleanliness

Ditto. Should be interesting to see how that is enacted and if it changes if FL/Orange County moves Phases...
Business opened down here in Florida this past week. From what I have been seeing, for the most part when you are in a store "most everyone" has a mask on. When they leave the store lots of people take them off.

I would bet it would be very similar in DS

Yes.. they said "use of" not that it will be strictly required at all times or is optional, or exact specifics. If it was required, they would state that is is required for entry.
The website says to check back closer to opening for specifics, "As May 20 gets closer, please check this page for the most current information on operating hours, locations and safety procedures.".
Not saying it is not going to be required, but they will need to be very clear or there will be problems when they reopen. I live in Los Angeles and masks are only required when physical distancing is not possible or while visiting an essential business. Retail businesses will start to reopen here tomorrow for curbside only, but masks are not required for that..

Masks are required anytime you enter a business in LA. Masks aren't required for curbside pickup because you won't be entering the business for that.

Masks should be the least of things to be worried about..
these 2 paragraphs will allow them to cancel anybody's reservation at any time when they first re-open.

Upon reopening, theme parks, Disney Resort hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences and other offerings may be modified and will be limited in capacity and subject to limited availability or closure, based on direction from health experts and government officials to promote physical distancing.

Additionally, attractions, experiences, services and amenities may have limited availability or may remain closed. We will provide more information as it becomes available. We reserve the right to cancel any reservations, admission media or purchases and provide applicable refunds.

That could for sure be referring to the big stuff, park tickets and resort reservations. Just wanted to also add that it may be in there to cover their butts for things like cancelled hard ticket events, ADRs, FPs, reservations for things like BBB, salons, tours, etc.

They’ve had the right to cancel all that from the minute you clicked agree to terms when you booked it...

I think it's important to remind guests of the fine print at times like this. Make it abundantly clear what Disney can and can't do and what you're getting into.
