Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I don't think all DVC owners have APs depending on how many points and/or trips they plan.
My point didn't link the two per se, other than to give an example of how DVC members are considered to be residents.

DVC members are not considered residents. Direct members are able to purchase Gold APs, but they are not considered to be Florida residents.

Not sure about that. Aren't DVC by definition considered residents/owners? They get the resident rate for AP's. I would imagine any "soft-opening" for FL residents would probably include the DVC's that have existing reservations at the least.

Nope. DVC Members do not get FL resident discounts. There are DVC discounts for some things but generally, they are not as good as the FL Resident discounts. Which, as a DVC Owner is a bit irksome. There is a DVC discount for APs. And as a DVC member, who lives in Colorado, I sometimes get the AP, depending on the length of my trip and the financial benefit of the 20% AP discount on merch vs. the 10% for DVC Members.

That's exactly the reason why Disney shouldn't open to out of state residents first. Keeping the local community to the local businesses at first is the best and safest roll out of reopening. There is no way Disney is going to bar it's locals from visiting, so they wouldn't want locals mixing with out of state until they know the effects.

You may say "well if they open to only out of state residents it'll be less infection"....who do you think WORKS at WDW? The hint is: it's not out of state workers. It's locals.
Since they’re allowing reservations without restriction, there’s no way they’re cancelling those guests who were already cancelled once if they have the parks open. Disney could most certainly limit opening to resort guests only, regardless of where you live. I realize some locals would like to have the parks to themselves, but that’s really not a good reason to do it. My point is, out of state guests can be lower risk than in state. Florida never saw a risk from out of state except for hot spots. Disney won’t either. Disney has to at least not lose more money by opening and that won’t happen with just locals. My opinion of course. Time will tell.

You realize that most states have a lower infection rate than Florida? I’m more likely to be infected by a Floridian than residents from many other states.

Actually, Florida is right in the middle of infection rates per million.(25th out of 51 counting DC). Twenty of those with lower infection rates also have lower testing rates, so where they stand in comparison is murky.

What would be weird about allowing Florida residents first is right now a lot of Floridians in South Florida are still on “stay at Home” orders.

Residency is a very complicated area defined by law and not by Disney. Owing a real estate interest is a prime indicator of residence. There are other reasons for Disney to treat DVC the same as resident but this is probably the biggest

If Disney requires masks, they will have to provide them. What happens if a mask flies off during a ride. Surely they won't kick them out. Masks do little to nothing to prevent the spread. Hand washing and sick people staying home do.

Can you imagine wearing a mask on Rn'R coaster?? Sounds dangerous.

Probably shoud post this hear too since it does affect modified operations, iaapa (international association for amusement parks and attractions) has released a set of guidelines for reopening. Universal, Six Flags, Cedar Fair, Seaworld all participated (disney not listed). Interesting reading on their suggestions and reccomendations.

That's quite a read. I only concentrated on certain sections and skimmed the rest. Didn't see anything in there that we have't discussed here and figured Disney would likely do, unless I missed something.

Ok, so I'll amend that to say there are half the states that have a lower infection rate. My point still stands.

So I‘m reading people are being called back to CityWalk via Attractions Magazine on 5/11. Unsure of the source as I don’t typically read these but a friend sent the article to me. Someone may have already posted it here so apologies in advance.

I wonder if Disney Springs will follow.

I read that it was supposed to open May 11th. I have heard nothing official from Universal regarding opening anything next Monday. Last official announcement was City Walk was closed through at least May 31st.

Nothing real shocking or majorly different just in places goes into details on some specific things like height measurements. The parts to me I found most interesting is facemasks are encourgaed (but never says required) and also that temperature checks should not be done (unless mandated by government). When talking about temp checks even straight come out and say "Assume everybody is positive and build processes around that to control the spread" which I guess is like a place like secret service just assuming everybody is a bad guy but is an effective way to build policies.

Here is the article about CitiWalk...hopefully Disney Springs will be lined up with Universal: https://**************.net/2020/05/citywalk-open-next-week-sp1/

CitiWalk/Springs - May 11?..... Parks/Resorts- June 1?...

Interesting bit in there regarding park "capacities" and following the general distancing guidelines

There is no way I’m telling my kids CityWalk is opening. My Disney trip will be out the window! 😳 Disney better hurry up or my money is going back to Universal.

Kidding.

You can make reservations at Hard Rock Cafe for the 11th. As I told the other poster, there is no way I’m telling my kids that. 😳 I guess we’ll know next week either way!

I just find it interesting that Universal has said nothing publicly about opening "all their restaurants" in City Walk literally a week from today. Something seems off.

I'll add one other thing. Like you didn't read every word of it but what it did give me a better feel for is just how many details have to be worked out and new procedures made accross the board. Way more then I even thought about. We focus more on fireworks, parades, etc. but there are a ton of things behind the scenes that will also need to be evaluated like when you have multiple employees using a single POS Terminal. Just a lot more things accross the board that I had never given throught to and goes to show how big a job Disney has to do in order to be ready to open safely and then when they get called back train people on these new procedures. That was one of my big takeaways - it feels like a rabbit whole where as you keep getting more and more scenarios that pop up with "well what about this? and what about that?" - like if we need to clean the credit card reader between guests then what should we do about the single terminal all servers enter orders on?. It's going to be a massive job working through all his and that document gave me at least a much better idea how massive it really it.
