I posted this on the Vera Bradley thread on the community board, but thought I might get more replies here...this is for the Vera experts!

What would you pay for a Vera Bradley mailbag at a rummage sale? My aunt was having a sale and I took a few of my purses to try to clear out my stash, and I get a phone call from her with someone trying to talk her down on it. That is why I hate doing rummage sales.

There is a little bit of fading on the front flap just from being out in the sun on a week-long Disney trip, but other than that its in great shape.

So what would you ask for it? Before I say what I marked it at and what I was offered, I want to see if I'm way off base.

FYI, the mailbag style retails at $68. I think I paid $35 or so on sale though.

Thanks in advance for the input!

If you only paid $35.00 how about $15? Because it's faded, it may not bring more, depending on the pattern.

If it were faded, I honestly wouldn't even want it.

I take great care of my Vera Bradley bags & all of mine still look brand new. (I don't use them in WDW...I don't think fabric bags are good for park touring).

If it's faded I wouldn't expect more than $5.

Oh, okay...thanks for the honest opinions.

I priced it at $8.00 (I know, kind of random, but I thought $10 was too much, but $5 didn't seem like enough). My aunt called that someone was offering $4.
I just hate the barganing that comes along with rummage sales. I know for some people that's part of the fun. I counter offered with $6, and she said no to that. Oh well.

Anyway...no big deal in the grand scheme of things, its just a few dollars, but just wondering if I was way off in what I should have been charging.

Thanks!

well it used in great shape expect the best price to get would be 1/2 of what you paid or the lowest price it has been sold for in the last few months
now thorw in the fact that its not in tip top shape your price goes down even more
also take a look at ebay from time to time
there was a few up with less then an hour left that looked perfect going for less then 20 bucks some as low as 10 bucks
and you have to take into account local demand
so even 5 bucks may be optimitic

You can't expect to look at ebay and get any comparable amount out of a garage sale.
