Hi all,

We are perspective buyers and have enjoyed reading the posts on this board. It is providing valuable insights to help us make a decision.

I do have a question for you experts. I have a family of 5 (two adults, three teens)...Are you allowed to sleep 5 in a one bedroom? Obviously, my points go further in a one bedroom versus a 2 bedroom.

The literature says that the one bedroom sleeps 4. When I asked the question, our tour representative said that "Nobody does a bed check" which certainly implied that we could do it although he did add that there would not be a roll-away available.

Assuming that one could bring an inflatable mattress, has anyone made it a practice of sleeping 5 in a one bedroom?

Who said things were quiet on the boards?

The stated occupancy is 4 people in a one-bedroom. They make an exception for adding a child under 3. No rollaways, bedding etc. are provided for anyone over the original 4 in one-bedroom.

Two adults, three teens and one bathroom, you do the math.

You will have to sign papers saying that you agree to the room limits. Disney has not been hassling people for overcrowding the units for the most part. You should ask the guide about what he has you sign, ask him about the limits, when he tells you its fine, ask him to note that on the contract.....he won't.

You will be able to get away with, if you think you would like to vacation like that, for a while. We have seen some signs and heard some things that may indicate that they are going to start enforcing the room occupancy limits again.

A family of five is going to be much more comfortable in a two bedroom unit. You really need to plan for the number of points it takes for your size family.

Two of your teens will have to first share a queen sleeper sofa, and the other one would have to sleep on the floor and you would have to buy an air bed AND you would be breaking the rules, ( I couldn't get my 12 year old and 15 year old to share the sleeper and they're girls,we had to bring an aero bed for one, we now have to do 2 bedrooms and we are only a family of 4) and I'm sure there are going to be many people here that are going to tell you it's allright.

So when you buy-in just do as Rich suggested, get them to put in writing!

<< the 5 in one bedroom thread is BACK folks! >>

My apologies if I am rehashing an old topic that I should have been able to locate...I looked back quite a ways to no avail.

Rich said to do the math...Two adults + three teens > one bathroom! I hadn't considered that problem. Now that I have, it's a fairly sobering thought. Looks like I need to consider a few more points.

Thanks everyone for your input...three replies within an hour or so of posting is pretty amazing. Great site!

No apologies needed at all!

This topic has traditionally become quite emotionally heated- to the point where our Webmasters have made it taboo except on the Debate Board.

Disney has certainly stated in DVC documents and on the website what the occupancy limits should be. Disney representatives have also stated that no one will be doing bed-checks in any of the rooms. No extra bedding will be provided bu Disney. Common sense and personal comfort will need to prevail with this question- as has already been pointed out.

For your reading pleasure...here is a link to a debate on this topic on our old server from last summer and another from our old DVC Board. Enjoy!
