Rules for transferring points?

I have some questions about the rules governing the transferring of points to another DVC member.

Can people tell me if the following statements are correct?

1) Only current year's points may be transferred. Banked and borrowed points may not be transferred.

2) A member can transfer points into a use year, or out of a use year, but can not do both in a single use year.

3) Transferred points expire on the original expiration date, regardless of the use year of the account receiving the transfer.

4) Transferred points are supposed to retain their home resort and give access to the 11 month window at that resort. However, Disney has trouble tracking the home resort of transferred points. If you want the points to retain their home resort, you should specify this to Disney at the time of the transfer.

Ok, please tell me if that was correct!

Now, I have a bunch of questions. Can holding account points be transferred? If they can, can *any* holding account points be transferred, or just ones that were not previously banked/borrowed?

Can someone explain what happens when the recipient of the points and the sender of the points have different use year months?

Does one have to wait until the use year starts to do the transfer? For example, if Joe wants to transfer December 2004 points to Jill, can they do that now, or do they have to wait until December 1st 2004?

TIA!

Judy

correct ( make sure you you ask whish use year the other member needs the point transfer into, we are all not in the same use year)

2) A member can transfer points into a use year, or out of a use year, but can not do both in a single use year.

correct ( either or way as many times, i have had 5 so far transferred in)

3) Transferred points expire on the original expiration date, regardless of the use year of the account receiving the transfer.

correct (that goes for banking deadline, and retains the original home resort)

4) Transferred points are supposed to retain their home resort and give access to the 11 month window at that resort. However, Disney has trouble tracking the home resort of transferred points. Its a matter of time that the computers will be set up so that the the transferred points retain their home resort, you onlyy need to make sure when you are making ressies that ms manual makes the ressies until the glitch is fixed, but dont count on using a different home resort points to become your home resort to make the 11 month, just in case the glitch is fixed.

No you do not have to wait. You can do exactly what you are saying today it you want. They will tell you they have to do it manually and may take 24 hours. It was done almost instantly when I did it. Also, they will ask to send a confirming email to keep with their records.
