Rude e-bayer

I found a piece of animation art that I was interested in bidding on. It is unframed and I wrote the seller and asked how it was shipped, does it come in a folder or some other form of packaging.

I received a very rude reply with a personal attack and offensive wording. Do I have any recourse? Can I post their reply and their business name to warn others?

I don't think you can leave feedback unless there is a completed auction. Sometimes things "read" much differently than it would seem if it was spoken to us. You may have misunderstood. Then again, some folks are just rude and at least you have a "heads up" and don't have to purchase from them.

It's pretty hard to misunderstand being called a "moron" and being told to go s***w yourself, among other things.

All I asked was a very simple question about how something was packaged.

After the first ugly response, I wrote back and said my question must have been misunderstood and then got an even worse reply.

I went back and read some of this person's negative feedback and it appears that he has been this way to others because several called his e-mails abusive and worse. I don't understand why e-Bay let's someone like this continue to be active, unless it is because they don't want to lose the money they make off of him.

Thanks for trying to see the best in someone, but this was really pretty bad, ending up with the a*****e word.

You can report them through ebay.

Scroll down to Miscellaneous offenses and see if any of those offenses listed are appropriate.

People like that are what gives all sellers a bad rap.

I would be sure to forward his emails, but be sure to forward your's too so that they can see that you weren't the one to initiate the rudeness.

I did do that, but after reading some of the negative feedback comments that were left for him, I am sure this isn't the first time he has been reported. If eBay hasn't thrown him off for his past behavior, I am doubting they will because of the e-mails he sent me.

It is really a shame that someone can get by with being such a jerk. Makes you wonder how he sleeps at night.

eBay is like the rest of the world - made up of angels and as!@#$%^

I'm sure everyone knows someone in their town who owns a business but is so obnoxious you wonder how they stay off the poor farm. Some of these jerks do it on purpose, they get a kick out of upsetting other folks. Others may have mental issues we're not aware of. Some are just angry at the world, and want to include us in their misery.

It doesn't mean they don't complete a sale. They may be very good at service, as long as they don't have to talk to their customers!

I'm not condoning it, I'm always the first to put eBay people like this on by 'block' list. I'm just saying it's up to us as individuals to decide who we want to deal with. Some people don't mind dealing with rude folks as long as their honest. Others would rather not!

I don't really think it's up to eBay to winnow out the jerks. I really want eBay to focus on winnowing out the illegal traders, the shysters and the outright crooks!

Sure, it's unpleasant to get an earful (or eyeful!) when I'm not expecting it, but if it doesn't cost me any money, I just block and delete and move on.

I think I purchased from this person, and even posted about it on disboards. It was a nightmare, don't even bother if the person is being that rude.... I ended up filing numerous disputes with both Ebay AND Paypal, and I had communication with more than one other person who had done the same thing..... and that person is still selling. Tells you something about where Ebay's priorities lie.
