Rude caller - WWYD?

I might have been tempted to curse right back at the caller (of course, then I'd be stooping to his level).

I can see why the op handled the phone call the way she did, if there are several people (adults) sharing the same house. She was trying to find out just who the idiot caller was trying to reach.

I get ZERO unsolicited phones calls to my cell, my landline I would get multiple a day.

I get 800 calls on my cell phone, trying to get me to buy extended warranty and insurance and things like that. I'm not sure how they have my number.

I'm very curious why did you continue to engage him once you realized he had the wrong number? Why do you care what the person they were calling's name is? What difference does that make at all :confused3

If they told you the name would the outcome have been any different?
I would have thought they were asking for the homeowner, so I wouldn't have thought it was a wrong number right off the bat.

I probably would have said something to make him madder. I'm like that.

"Now, really young man, there's no reason for that kind of language. You kiss your mother with that mouth?" Probably would have sent him right over the edge. Kill 'em with kindness.

I like to use "Your parents are real proud of you aren't they?"
when people use language like that.

Calls from people I don't know are the reason I have caller ID.
If I don't know the called I don't answer, they'll leave a message
if they really need too.

I wouldn't have even answered the phone. If it isn't someone we know it goes to the machine.

I get wrong numbers on my cell phone.

I always love the people who call ME and ask me who I am.:rotfl2: I say um,no I don't need to tell you who I am, you are the one calling me you should know who I am. And if you did know me, you would know that I don't put up with rude people, click up.

How that call would have happened at my house

Me: Hello?

Caller: I need to speak to the owner.

Me: How does if feel to need? *click*

If the called isnt specific and ask for me by name, or the wife, they get an ear full of *clickage*

Same here, almost all my wrong numbers are on my cell phone. I suspect because fewer folks are using landlands, that is why I get fewer misdials on my landline. And yes, people who misdial on a cell phone sure seem a lot ruder than folks who get the wrong number on my landline.
Although, my cell phone is only turned on when I am in the car, or away from my home or office landlines.

Jeez, that's intense! I'd say call the phone company and make sure you aren't listed as a business.

That's what caller ID is for. If I don't know the number or the name calling, I don't answer and let it go right to voicemail. If it's important, they will leave a messsage. If it's not, no harm done.
