My flight landed at 7:40 last night at MCO.....went to Magical Express and walked right on the bus. :) Wasn't to long and we were under way to Coronado Springs, after a quick stop at Pop Century, I was at the check in desk before I knew it. Check in was flawless. Found my room, wandered back to El Centro for some milk and soda for the room and grabbed a club sandwich from the Rix cafe :cheer2: All was wonderful!!!!

At 11:30 I still do not have my luggage, I call bell services, they tell me it is on a truck at airport and will arrive between midnight and 1:15am. I'm tired and it really isn't a big deal so I ask them to hold it until I call for it in the morning. I was told no problem. I put the "privacy please" sign in the door it was lights out.

At 12:45 something wakes me. When I realize it was knocking at the door, about that time I get the "cop knock" thought they were going to beat the door in. Well it was my luggage. Being a solo female I wasn't to thrilled with answering the door at 12:45 and the poor bell services guy said he had no idea it was to be held.

Well I have my luggage and if that is the worst that happens all is good.....off to get going on a magical day. pixiedust:

When you are afraid of opening the door late at night you can call the front desk to find out who it is first.

It was likely that your airline delivered the luggage late.

I'm surprised that they delivered your bags at 12:45 a.m. MY BIL's flight was delayed one visit and he didn't arrive at the resort until late (his flight landed before 10 pm so he didn't grab his bags) His luggage was delivered at 7:30 the next morning.

Hope you slept in a bit the next morning! I would be leary about opening the door at that hour also!

There's no excuse for knocking on the door with the privacy sign out. I would go to the front desk or bell services and complain, they need to look at their procedures.

The airline sends the bags to the baggage area as usual. Before the bags are put out on the carousel, the ones with yellow tags are pulled. Then the yellow tagged luggage is loaded onto trucks to WDW. The breakdown was probably between pulling the bags and loading them onto the truck, which I believe is DME's responsibility. I doubt the airline pulls the bags or loads the trucks, that's not their job. They may not do as many truck runs to WDW at night.

That would've startled me too! A couple of times I've forgotten to take the do not disturb sign off and the CM won't knock until the front desk calls.

I am not surprised. My sister got in at noon, when we got back to the room at 8PM her luggage was still not there. So after hours of tracking it down, it was found at MCO with the yellow tags. It just had been missed. So she asked for bell services to hold her luggage until the morning, (by this time is was close to midnight). 1 AM and there is a knock at our door. Bell services was delivering her luggage. That guy also claimed he didn't know he was suppose to hold it.

I would be chatting with the front desk. That's what the privacy sign is for. Especially when you asked that your luggage be held until the next morning.
I imagine that if you arrived at MCO at 7:40, you were probably checking into your resort by 9ish..that would be about average timing. Luggage is to be expected up to 3 hrs after resort checkin...that would make it midnight. Still, it was a bit on the late side. BUT...that in now way allows for them to knock on your door!!!

Please, take this up with the Front Desk, and possibly Luggage Assistence. This is one reason I always tell people to be sure to let Luggage Assistence/Bell Services know that they want bags held until the next day..not that evening. I'm going to assume that Luggage Assistence didn't get the message about holding the bags from the Front Desk...and since they had trekked all the way to your room, with the bags, they didn't want to trek back with them..so they ignored the privacy please hanger...and that's pretty inconsiderate.

I think the take away from these stories is that if your luggage is late and you go to bed...get a sharpie and tape and write a big sign on your door that says:
Bell Services:
DO NOT KNOCK ON THIS DOOR.
Hold my luggage until morning.

Most likely you will have a nice quiet sleep.

But if they still knock at the door, then answer it and point to the sign, take a quick picture of the bellman standing there in front of your sign, get the bellman's name, call the front desk, and start bargaining. You now have collateral to be used in getting some free stuff. :cool1:

:sad2:
or do as you did, just realize a mistake was made, and enjoy your vacation without looking for "gimmies". of course, just let bell services and the FD know when you get a chance. have a fabulous vacation!

Oops, I meant to say that the airline may have misdirected or mishandled the bag but then got it into Orlando on a later flight.

This happened to us when our bags went to San Francisco instead of Orlando a couple of years ago. By the time they were found and sent on to Orlando, (about 48 hours), they arrived around 1:30 am. We just figured they would hold them until the am, but we were wrong! DH was so startled, he forgot to give the guy his tip.

If the OP called the front desk, her call almost certainly went to the call center and never got passed on properly.

I have learned to go to the front desk in person for anything I care about having done in a timely manner. But the poster's idea of a sign would work, too, LOL!

It can depend on the resort. The value resorts stop delivering bags around midnight, the rest of the resorts will deliver them all night long if needed.

I waited until 11:30pm...then I called bell services from my room phone, I assumed that call went directly to them. I didn't do anything, i guess a mention of it to bell services is warranted but although it wasn't expected, it didn't ruin anything.

But what time did you arrive at the resort? That is the time that matters. Disney states they will get your luggage to you within 3-4 hours of checking in to your resort. When you arrive at the airport doesn't factor.

I checked into the hotel at 9pm so 12:45 is within 4 hrs, that is irrelevant though at 11:30 I asked them to hold it until morning. I am by no means mad that it wasn't there at 11:30, I was just tired and wanted to go to bed.

A few years ago we arrived at our resort via ME about 5:30 p.m......had dinner reservations and plans for evening so freshened up and left our room. When we returned at 11:00 p.m......still no luggage.....called Bell Services and they said "Oh yes...we have it....we'll be right up....there's a slight problem". Well, a few minutes later I found out what the "slight problem" was. Some other guest had packed glass baby formula bottles in their luggage.....while on the ME truck those bottles broke and not only ruined their own luggage/belongings, but, other luggage next to/under/on top of. My bag was soaked and stained with smelly baby formula. Fortunately, I learned years ago ....since we usually travel during winter months (think sloppy, slushy, snowy tarmacs and luggage)
....to pack everything in plastic travel space bags inside my luggage.....so nothing in my bag was ruined, wet or stained at all.....only the bag itself....which was a total loss......even the next day after cleaning it and letting it dry....it still smelled disgusting and had stains. Disney did make good and replaced my bag later the same day....I discussed it with the front desk manager before we left for the day....she looked at the bag and when I got back to the room that evening there was a brand new bag waiting for me. So, since that experience we usually grab our own bags at MCO and take them to the ME bus ourselves.....granted.....same thing could happen onboard the plane or in the baggage area of the airport......but, I wouldn't be discovering it at 11:30 p.m. with the possibility of having only soaked, ruined clothing the next morning.

I think that the PRIVACY sign should be notice enough ....and I don't have a Sharpie and tape in my travel kit. :lmao: I would certainly take it up with the front desk.

I never 'call' the front desk from my room. I do call Housekeeping and Bell Services but not the front desk..just for that reason. I would have stopped at the front desk first thing in the morning....also would have stopped at Luggage Assistence as well. I seldom make 'complaints' over the phone. I want to see exactly who I am talking to. Much better to have names available if needed.
