RSR Wideright is AWESOME, Halloween party super crowded

Here now. Went yesterday (Tuesday) to DCA on a non EE day. Got there 1/2 hour before park opened. Stayed right to get in, and all the way down Buena Vista Street to the rope. I didn't realize they walk you down to the ride with the rope, I guess so people don't run and hurt one another. We stayed right the whole time, and we were the first ones on RSR! So cool! Got off the ride, went and got a fp at 8:20, the return time being 11:30 and 12:30. We started at DL today, but I went over to DCA to grab WOC FPs, thought I'd check to see if there were any RSR fps left, and there were! It was 9:30am, and we got a return time of 5:30-6:30.
Next, did the halloween party last night and holy cow, it was crazy. It didn't seem to let up at all like it did last year. For example, towards the end of the night at last years party, I was able to walk right on HM. Last night, 20 minute wait. I couldn't believe the trick or treat lines. Last year they moved so quickly, this year, less so. I saw people holding up the lines asking for specific candy, and if they didn't have it, asking for other specific candy.
Anyway, wondered why DL is closing early tonight (Wednesday) at 6pm, there are signs all over saying closing early for Mickey's Halloween Party. I didn't know they were doing one tonight.

We were there Oct 15-19 and also used wide right for EMH and it worked like a charm.
I also found the MHP to be too crowded, I think they sold too many tickets per night for it to be truly enjoyable. We went on Monday Oct 15 and some areas you could barely walk through and the villains were hard to spot for the masses of people around each one. The treat lines were long but did move fairly quickly. We had a good time but a few less people would have made it much better.

I also agree about MHP. Sort of regretted going, it was sooo crowded.

We did the party yesterday too. I agree it was really too crowded. We asked today what the event tonight was and it is a cast member Halloween party.

We arrive on a Saturday to the Grand Californian and plan on doing EMH at Cars Land on Sunday. I will be torn between worrying about getting in line for RSR and pausing and letting my kids take in the beauty of Route 66 and Cars Land.

What would you do on your first day to Cars Land? Tell your kids to suck it up and keep walking, and that they can enjoy it later, or stop and smell the roses, and lose valuable places in line at RSR?

I would try to do RSR first, that 's what we did. You will have plenty of time afterwards (when RSR standby wait is 60+ minutes) to take it all in. If riding RSR is a priority, then try to do it as early as possible just in case it is down or whatever, then you will still have opportunities later.

I've never done it yet, but from what I've gathered, you go into the park and find cast members holding a rope. Then head to the right side of the rope and stay as close to that cast member as possible until you get to RSR.

Wide Righters, is that about it?

When you go through the gates, you head down Buena Vista street but just go as far right as possible. Basically right next to the right hand sidewalk as the CM's usually don't allow people to go down the sidewalk (at least the 3 times we were there). The CM's will have a rope and will walk everyone down the road, once at RSR, the queue loads from the right so your side will load into it faster so you will be closer to the front than those in the middle and on the left.
Go on the Disney website and look at a map, DH didn't understand until he read the instructions while looking at the map.
