RSR is down...maybe for awhile

This is such a bummer. RSR's line soaked up a lot of people that will have to go somewhere else for now - I'm guessing once word gets out more and more people know it is down, even DL will feel some increase in crowds as people change reservation to DL when possible.

Anyone think there is any chance they figure it out this week? It sounded pretty significant.
Funny enough, I had exactly this thought. We are not the park-hopping type, so we have one park per day tickets. We are supposed to be in DCA Monday and Thursday, but if Monday is a disaster, I'm considering switching Thursday to DL for some extra Star Wars time. Heck, maybe I'll use that ILL money for a second go on Rise. I was iffy on whether there was enough to do in DCA for two days anyway... and now I'm really not sure it's going to be worth it.

On the subject of switching park days, can someone talk me through the best way to do that? Turns out, the two Star Wars obsessives in my house are pretty excited about the demise of RSR, since they'd much rather hobnob with the First Order for a second day.

I'm a technological neophyte and don't want to mess up our tickets. Can we get the second DCA day switched to a DL day at a ticket window or any place with a real human once we are there?

Unfortunately, no. You will have to cancel your DCA reservation and then hope you can get a DL reservation. It’s doable but if they are currently sold out, it will require constantly refreshing the reservation for a day or two until DL opens up and then very quick fingers to go through the reservation process because Disney doesn’t “hold” the reservations in your carts. If someone if faster they can sweep them out from under you.

If you are staying at an onsite hotel, there is a possibility you could get one in-person at the hotel. The hotel reservation bucket also has way more availability than the ticket and Keyholder buckets.

Yes, thank you. I'm not confident enough to try the "fast fingers" method, and if that's where we're at, we will just keep the second DCA day and make the best of it.

That said, we are staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Would I just talk with the front desk staff and see if there is anything they can do?

If your hotel reservations are linked you should be able to handle it yourself, but I believe the front desk can also walk you through it. So far, I don't think there have been any instance of onsite hotel guests being unable to get a reservation for the park they wanted - at least not mentioned on these boards!

Rumor here: Heard its warping of the track causing overheating of the vehicle components.

If it is a track component, its gonna be down a LONG time…..months or more.
Yikes.. hopefully Disney can put out a statement or add it to refurb calendar soon because just having it off the map is confusing.

We go in 4 months. It will make DCA harder to navigate for sure... the only plus is hopefully if it has to be down for awhile that they give it a really good fix up

And to everyone here, though this probably belongs on the main thread somewhere -- we started planning this vacation in June of 2019. Three years ago. Then pandemic, and more pandemic, and more pandemic. But this group never failed to keep my novice self one step ahead of the game at every twist and turn. So thank you. Again ;)

Like warping of a lot of the track or just that the fire cause the track under it to warp? I would imagine one requires a major overhaul while the other requires just a small segment.

Hopefully they figure it out soon otherwise it’s going to be a brutal summer for guests. DCA needs that ride.

Yes I would, But I am sure I would be fired because my answer to the problem requires spend money to fix things that affect guest satisfaction. That is obviously not the way management is working right now. So if they hired me, yes I would...and I would be making damn sure the poor state of the parks lately would be addressed to satisfy guests before shareholders to ensure Disney is a premier destination for the long term.

That answer your question?
I would say at the end of the day, it all comes down to the $ dollars $. The resort has been open for over a year now. Could they have scheduled a major refurb this ride? Probably. Guessing the reasons why were likely money, they knew they would lose on day ticket sales. Likely less attendance would happen at DCA if they were to take it down for an extended period of time. Coming out of the pandemic they wanted to try and recoup as much money as possible, and still do. Now they are forced to deal with it, considering the current safety issues it is causing. Either way it was going to have to come down for a refurb, it's just sad that it has to happen during the busy summer season.

If you are staying at the DLH you can access the "hotel bucket" of reservations. Not sure when your trip is but I think you can access it 90 days out. You will be able to make whatever changes you need, but I highly suggest you do it now and don't wait until later. I did see a few days completely sold out through my hotel bucket a few times even though they are generally available. If you wait until you get there you could have a difficult time doing it or be out of luck.

I have seen it happen a few times when a day was not available in the hotel bucket. Never really a rhyme or reason and maybe it was a glitch, but I have seen it. Most days are usually available though.

Is there a way to "see" the hotel bucket, or is it all behind the scenes?

I'm sorry, I really do stink at technology. My technological know-how is permanently stuck somewhere around 2006/2007 and it's becoming a problem....

You just have to link your hotel reservation (using your confirmation number) to your Disney account and then it will allow you to make reservations using the hotel bucket. It will make it easy for you to switch days around, etc.
