Is there any trick to being able to ride RSR w/out a 2 hour wait if you are not staying onsite?

Fortunately we're not going till November, so hopefully it won't be as crazy busy...

Have someone in your party wait for fast passes while the rest of you ride other things. That, or single rider line the ride.

Of course, once school starts, the wait times should decrease a little.

Our first time riding it we waited in the FP line for about 45 mins first thing in the AM... and there was no standby line that morning, the ride was closed til noon... we got in the line around 7:30. Then when we came back to use our FPs around 9:30, we waited in line only about 20 minutes.

We got in line for RSR another morning early too, probably about 7:45? I don't remember precisely... we waited around 30-40 minutes that day. These were both weekdays in late July. :)

In November the trick will be to go to DCA at park opening on days which are not EMH for DCA. That would be Sat/Sun/Tue/Thu. Then everyone will be on an even footing.

This advice applies to anyone visiting after October 1.

just got back last night.
we stayed offsite at the hotel menage which was awesome.
during our trip, we rode rsr 5 times, all with under 35 min. waits.
the first time, we followed a plan posted here on 7/14/2012 called "a very successful day" in which at rope drop, got fp's for soarin, rode tsmm, got fp's for screamin, then lined up for rsr fp's at 825am. worked great.
a few other times we rode single rider which worked great, the last day we got into the fp line at 845, it sailed through and we got 7pm return times.
it was a great trip..
single rider rules.
ps. there were reports that this was the busiest weekend of the year too.

Our trip in early July we rode RSR 5 times I think, on our last trip we rode it 3 times and we were only there 3 days. We used the SR line and didn't wait more than 40-60 minutes, the 60 minutes was a fluke because the ride went down for about 20 minutes.

What about for next week? Are there EMH everyday in the summer?

Our wait was 20 minutes at 9am this last Sunday in single rider line. BTW we did get to ride together but there is no guarantee. If RSR is anything like ST, then by Nov you should have no trouble riding/getting FP as long as you aren't close to a holiday or Thanksgiving. If history holds true.

As I've followed the posts/strategies for RSR over the last 2 months, it seems to have changed throughout the summer. The strategy was different in June than it has been in July, when most of the local AP's have been blocked out. I'm very interested what will happen again at the end of August when the local AP's all start hitting the parks again. I don't know if anyone really knows what will be the best strategy for RSR when the summer tourists are gone and the local AP's become a bigger impact.

I would suggest checking back for guest experiences in September and October. I'll be going throughout the end of August to November and plan on reporting my experiences.

With the 2 year old, you'll be able to make use of rider switch, right? So that helps get everyone on. Of course, if it's only adults and the oldest child who want to ride, Single Rider is pretty great, as long as you know that you will be in separate vehicles.

(obviously the adults wouldn't be able to ride at the same time, LOL, unless you have extra people coming in to watch the younger two)

Well poop. My parents have 3 day park hoppers and we were hoping to do Early Entry to DL (fantasyland) Tuesday. Shoot.

I guess we'll just have to hope for the best.

Well thats good to know :thumbsup2

EMH is every day through the end of September. Those without EMH do not have any "tricks". They can either use single rider (sort of a trick), wait the 90-120 minute standby line, or get to the gates 30 minutes early in order to wait in line for a FP another 15-30 minutes once the park opens.

I'm hoping that they will extend the EMH for longer. :thumbsup2

To be honest, as long as you get in the gates by 8:30, you should be fine getting in the FP line. Your return time will be evening, 7:30 or 8. The line starts moving at 8am, so the later you get in it, the less time you wait in line. They cut people off from "getting in" line at about 9am most mornings. No need to rope drop it, as long as your willing to ride it later at night.

EMH will be extended...it just won't be everyday for both parks. After 9/29, the schedule for EMH is as follows:

DL- Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday (it's been like this for years)
DCA- Monday, Wednesday, Friday

We are going to DL next week, apparently the LA schools start back up on the 14th. So I am hoping with the kids going back to school that the lines will shorten a little.

My family got to CA yesterday and we arrived at DL at ~10 a.m. (I know that is late!) this morning. We spent most of the day at DL then went to DCA and got to RSR at 4:00. We got on the single rider line and it took 20 minutes. One day we will go all together but single rider is a great way to get on the ride multiple times! The ride is great!
