DH and I are headed to Disneyland right after Christmas (27-29, only spending the 28 at the parks). DH has never been on RSR so we are heading to DCA for rope drop and heading right to RSR. I have wanted to ride it at night time, and we of course want to come back and see Cars Land all lit up at night. Does anyone have an idea of what the FastPass return times are for RSR? If we got a FastPass after we ride it first thing (so maybe around 9am) can anyone give a likely return time?

My best advice is to watch the Disneyland App. When we were there in November RSR was down for most one day and up and down for another. People were sitting wait for Fast passes from Rope drop for hours and they didn't hand them out but the App is really reliable, you can watch for the current return times and race over and grab some passes.

Thanks Leanne! I downloaded the Disneyland app yesterday and am familiarizing myself with it. My only concern with leaving DL to go get a FastPass is the likelihood that DL will be at capacity and I won't be able to get back in.

Then if there's a closure when you go to hop, don't leave. It is very unlikely that a capacity closure at DL would last for the rest of the day on the 28th, but if you're worried about not getting right back in, don't hop. You said you're planning to ride it in the morning, so you will have had 1 ride, if you're worried about losing time in DL, you may have to forgo FP for a second ride. Especially on such a busy day when return times and gate closures will be unpredictable. You could always try single rider if the second FP doesn't work out.

Thanks SMD. I am thinking we may try for the single rider line later in the evening to catch a RSR night ride, instead of risking it for a FP.

You can ask a CM at the gates as you're preparing to hop whether there's a chance there might be a capacity closure in the next 30 minutes and use the response as a guide to whether or not to take the chance.
