I have ps for Emeril's at RPR (we're staying there). I think it is a little upscale but is it ok with kids? I like to have a decent meal while on vacation but don't want to interrupt other people's quiet meals if it is really low key. My kids are decent in restaurants - as decent as a 3 and 4 year old can be! We do choose places that are more kid friendly though. They can last for an hour fine and if I'm prepared and bring some things to keep their attention, they are good for longer. I don't mind taking breaks with them outside the restarant to explore if it is very time consuming. Should I keep the ressie's?

Tchoup Chop is wonderful. I don't remember seeing young chilfren there during dinner, although I'm pretty sure they have a kid's menu. The service is WONDERFUL. Very attentive without being intrusive. It depends on your children. You say they can sit quietly for over an hour, so you should be OK. There is certainly nothing exciting going on to entertain them there.

My kids are going to have the bam bam burgers off the childrens menu! lol You gotta love Emeril!:teeth:

Kids are made welcome at Tchoup they can color in their menu and fold it into a chefs hat:jester:

Tchoup Chop is excellent and we have seen kids in there.

All have been well behaved, stayed at the table colored and ate their meals nicely..except for one night. There was a large party (keep in mind..the tables are fairly close together..the restaurant is not very large..it is very intimate), 4/5 adults and at least that many kids..probably all 6 and under. The adults were chatting away..drinking and not paying any attention to the kids. The kids were running all over the restaurant, in/out between the tables. Unfortunately..we were seated right beside them. The kids were playing in the fountain in the middle of the restaurnant..pulling on the sculpture. The parents did nothing. Totally ruined our evening for sure.

So as far as keeping your reservation or not...this is a very intimate, relaxed meal..and you are not rushed. If your children can sit quitely then go. If not..why not drop them at the day care center at the resort for a few hours..enjoy your meal and then go back and pick them up.

We did go and had a lovely dinner. We were prepared with things to occupy them and they were fine. Service and food were outstanding!

I had one of the dinner specials that was red snapper encrusted with something - pecans or almonds and something. It was extremely good! I wish I could describe it better. It was presented on some rice and some sort of noodly thingy's that I didn't eat. Also w/asparagus that was crisp and just perfect. To start my DH and I shared a shrimp appetizer that was very good. I had chicken corn chowder that was ok. My DH had filet and scallops which was very good. My FIL had filet which he liked as well. My step-MIL had some sort of pork which was huge with sweet potatoes that were scrumptious! I had the banana cream pie for dessert - yummy. That was probably the best thing (after the fish - that was just too good). My DH had some sort of chocolate thing that I thought was going to be cake but it was much denser - it was ok. The kids loved their dessert - cookies and ice cream for one and brownie and ice cream for the other. Overall it was absolutely wonderful! We typically do not spend that much on a meal but it was absolutely delicious and nice for a treat. Servers were very attentive and helpful without being pretentious (I hate that). A+++!

I had gone by the night before and they had menus out front that you could take so we could get a preview of the menu before going in. There were a lot of choices and each sounded different.

When we went we started with the sticky shrimp appetizer and the crab cake appetizer. Both were excellent. I had the firecracker fish which was outstanding and my friend had the ahi tuna which was also wonderful.Dessert was the banana cream pie and the wonderful pineapple upside down cake. Everything was GREAT!

have you thought about going for lunch? Thats when we went and it wasn't as crowded as dinner time. Ours kids are older (13 and 8) but there were several families with children smaller than ours. And yes they do have a children menu.

I understand that the restaurant is quite costly. Is it?

I think that it is expensive. But judge for yourself, here is their menu :

I will pay for a quality meal for my family as long as they enjoy and appreciate the meal. Too often, I see expensive dinners given to children that do not eat very much of the dinner.

Whenever possible, I try to show the menus of "special" meals to the family and get everyone's opinion before going to the restaurant. For WDW and UO there are web sites with menus. But I admit, I am a compulsive planner.

It can be costly we where $180 for 2 adults & 2 kids but that was incl starteres and deserts plus a couple of JD's & a botle of wine and tip found it to be well worth the expense compared to $110 at HRC and that was with a 10% discount

Ours cost $190 including tip for 2 adults, 2 older kids who ordered from the children's menu. We had a couple of drinks. But, we also had appetizers and desserts. The meal was WONDERFUL, the service was even better. I also had the snapper encrusted thingy. Not sure what I eat, but it was wonderful. My husband had the chef's dinner, which was a 4 course meal. He really enjoyed this. Kids had kids filet minon ($18) and pasta ($9).
Enjoy!!
