RPR Suite Upgrade Question

Former longtime (really long time ago) regular here.:wave2: Forgive my questions but I am a bit rusty.

I have a question about the platinum suite upgrade.

Last weekend my daughter won a bid to Worlds (cheer) over at Disney, so we have a last minute, unplanned trip to Orlando in April, YAY! Of course I have to get a bit of Universal in before we have to head over to Disney.

I was lucky enough to log in on the one day last week that RPR had APH rates and the powerpass does not have blackout dates during my dates, so I have that booked. I am platinum, but there was no suite upgrade available. They upgraded me to a waterview instead.

Here is the rusty part, especially since we are normally PBH people.
Does it make any sense to call periodically to see if a suite has opened up or will I be wasting my time that a suite will open up in just under a month? I don't want to be a pain and waste not only my time but the people at Universal's call center's time if it is virtually impossible one will open up in this spring break time. Should I just wait till check-in?

And if there is a chance, do I call the hotel or continue to call the reservation line?

TIA!

And thanks to everybody new and the oldtimers I recognize posting here. The information is still so helpful. I just told a teammate about the Cheaptickets code that they were able to use to secure a room at RPR since they missed the APH rate.

I would call reservations to check because they can pull up and see availability before it is released into the system

Call Loews direct or reservation

I'm platinum with You First also
Most times I call the YouFirst desk for assistance for booking issues

Thanks. I just called and still none available. I don't really mind so I didn't want to be a pain and keep calling if historically there is a low chance that they may open up.

When you say the YouFirst desk, did you mean the YouFirst number (they rerouted me to the standard Universal reservations) or the front desk of the hotel? Sorry, I told you I am rusty on this. Feels weird to be the one asking the questions instead of the one answering. But so much has changed that very little of my previous knowledge is applicable.

i don't have that number in front of me at the moment but wanted to reply back to you quickly.
There is a separate number for YouFirst and specific hours it is operated.
If you were rerouted, it would have been to the main number for reservations and not the hotel.

You are correct, changes happen frequently and sometimes i screw up in giving advice.
but, that is why i am not listing the YF number i think it is without checking first.

The main reservation number has different centers so you don't get the same person twice in a row usually.
Don't be shy in calling anytime you desire to find out info.

If someone calls iin the evening to cancel a reservation, it should be in the system by morning.
Calling in the morning works and calling later in the day works.
Some peeps call and adjust their reservations during their lunch period from work.
No set pattern when rooms go back in the system as available.

If you see a thread in the hotel section on the darkside forum, check it out.
Sometimes peeps there will post they called and found availability, or state they were able to book a specific category room.

If there is a will, there is a way to snag what you are trying for.

If you are looking for a one night only, don't know how successful that will be.
I've only looked for many nights(14) in a row so i book early.

OP - keep checking the online U reservation site. If you see a suite available, call in to ask that they flip you over to complimentary upgrade.

only so many suites to go around, not sure of the number @ PBH but i've had better luck finding them at RPH when booking just a few months out.

Did you book a garden or bay view? If you've booked garden and a bay view suite pops up, likely you will have to pay a the going rate for the bay view room.

No advice hit wanted to congratulate her in the bit!

Talk about last minute!!!!!

Good luck to her and her team :)

It never hurts to keep calling. however what I would do would be to call the hotel and have it noted that you are requesting an upgrade but none were avail at the time of the booking. This note along with your Platinum status should get you an upgrade if one comes available.
