We recently stayed on site at WDW for the 1st time at Coronado Springs. We absolutley loved it there. For our Honeymoon in May we would like to focus more on Universal Studios this time. I have been looking into either the RPR or PBH and was just looking for opinions as to whether or not it would be on par with the Disney resort? Also, which would you recommend for a Honeymoon? The RPR or the PBH? Do either of them have outdoor hot tubs? Thank you for any advice/ideas you can give me.

PBH is what I would recommend for a Honeymoon. They both have outdoor hot tubs. Sign up for Loews First to get access to the hotel's fitness center. PBH has a co-ed whirlpool in their spa/fitness facility that is ultra romantic. If you get there at opening you will be all alone for quite awhile. They are both great hotels but PBH is a little more romantic. Have fun.

I vote for Hard Rock or PBH and don't forget to eat a nice romantic dinner at Mama Della's Ristorante @ PBH and request a song from the strolling musicians.

PBH has bigger rooms and is more quiet than the other on-site hotels. RPR and HRH are more convenient to the parks. You can't really go wrong with any of the on site hotels. I would say PBH for a honeymoon, although the RPR is a beautiful hotel also.

I've stayed at Coronado Springs and PBH- I would definitely recommend a deluxe at PBH and also add club level if you can afford it. It is so beautiful and club will make it so easy with breakfast ready and a lovely place to unwind with all the offerings. Also, tour the spa. I was not a spa person but after seeing the relaxing atmosphere i opted to try it. I'm now hooked. By the way, CSR is only ok compared to PBH it isn't even in the same class so you should be thrilled. Enjoy!

Thank you all for the input. I knew I could count on you guys and gals for some help :)

OMG..if you loved Coronado springs...you are going to flip over the universal resorts. I am guessing once you stay at the universal resorts..you won't ever stay at Coronado again.

Coronado is a disney moderate resort. Nothing more, nothing less. Poorly laid out, food court over priced and mediocre.

Portofino and Royal Pacific at Universal are loews resorts. Portofino is probably comparable to disneys grand floridian. We have stayed at both..we will never stay at GF again..we have stayed at Portofino many, many times. For a honeymoon, Portofino would be perfect. There is a hot tub..and a cold tub..to go back and forth in. The pool area is excellent..and the quiet (villa) pool is wonderful as well. The chairs to lounge on, the giant soft pool towels. The beautiful setting..you just can't beat it. The beds and bedding are wonderful and very comfy. Huge bathrooms. Portofino is a true deluxe resort with all the ammenities that go with that.

Royal Pacific...is probably a step down from GF..but well on par with the rest of disneys deluxe resorts. We have stayed there twice and love it as well. It too would be a great place for a honeymoon. The resort is absolutely beautiful. The employees are wonderful. Restaurants are excellent. Bars are excellent.
Great ammenities in the rooms as well.

We do however..prefer Portofino...just because..well..probably because we can't wait to go to Italy for real.

On top of that..you can't beat front of the line access for staying at a universal resort. The parks are a short boat ride away, as well as City Walk. Everything is at your fingertips.

Either resort you choose, you will enjoy. If you have a little extra money to spare..go for portofino.

Thank you webray! I appreciate the info. The PBH definitely looks like the way to go!! :)

If you have even a little more-do club and mention on your ressie that you are a honeymooner. Also, a nice surprise gift for hubbie would be a deluxe cabana rental for a day you plan on spending by the villa quiet pool. We did this for a Father's Day gift-he really enjoyed the shade, soda, fruit, and TV! The deluxe rooms are so huge with the separate shower and tub, the extra space is nice. Join Loews first and look out for AAA rates etc. We heard that you can't do Entertainment rates with club but you may want to book using this rate for a deluxe and when you get there go to the club lounge and ask if you can pay the difference for club. Say "Oh please it's our honeymoon"! and perhaps they will allow it. They seem to be the only hotel on Universal property that isn't allowing this discount when you book club. This is such a beautiful hotel. I video taped the room and evrywhere on property and enjoy watching it to remind me of this coming June's trip. Enjoy!

I have been looking at pictures of the place on the web . It looks beautiful! A club room sounds fantastic. One side of me gets nauseous thinking about spending that kind of money on a room, and the other side says "Oh what the heck, a Honeymoon only happens once, just do it", lol. About the Cabanas...how does that work? Do you rent it once you get there? Is it reserved for you the whole day? Or just a block of time? Thanks for the input, disneymom! Have a great weekend!

I agree with the above posters. Portifino is as good, if not better than, the Disney Deluxes. RPR is on par with the Disney Deluxes. We love the Poly and think the Poly has the edge over the RPR in most areas, but not by much. We loved our stay at the RPR and are staying there again in August, 2005.
