Hello all .. we have never stayed onsite at US before so could use some advice. There will be 3 adults and 2 small children (ages 2 & 1). We would get 2 rooms with kid in each room. The winter deals are incredible out there so we are looking to stay onsite.

The price for RPR Club Level or PBH standard room are approx the same.

Considerations:

1) PBH rooms are 100 sq foot larger than RPR. Looking at the pictures though you really cant tell the difference. The extra space might be nice with the 2 small kids. Is this space in the form a larger bathroom or living area space?

2) PBH is a more luxurious place. Is this resort less kid-friendly than RPR? Hard to clarify what I mean by that .. but are the common areas of the resort (pools, restaurants, etc) as appropriate for a toddler here? Is the "atmosphere" at RPR more slanted towards kids?

3) The food in the Club level would be nice, but definitely not a must have. Stayed in Concierge once at Disney Poly and we really loved it. Does Club level really make a big difference to you during your stay at Universal? Would you compare it to DIsney.

So in the end... if you were us, which resort would you choose?

I haven't stayed onsite at Universal but the rooms look about equivalent to Disney's deluxe resorts that I have stayed many times 3/2. I would recommend against getting two rooms and just stick with one given your kids are that small and seems like at least one will be in a crib. If you go with one room you can get club level anywhere you want. It might be a bit crowded but you will save a lot of money.

I cannot compare to RPR but we loved PBH for our first trip last spring. The resort intimidated me for the first hour and after that I realized it was not snooty at all. The pool was abuzz with lots of kids of all ages.

Room size was comparable to Disney deluxe but it was smaller than the rooms at the Poly. One big difference was the elevated beds so we could put all our luggage and shoes under the bed.:thumbsup2 loved that. Yes--I would say some of the square footage declared on the website is definitely the bathroom. They are ginormous bathrooms.

The biggest reason we chose PBH was the room size as I do not like to feel cramped in a room on vacation. The room amenities kept it from feeling too small but wished we had a balcony.

The food at PBH was wonderful. We had room service several times and pizza and breakfast items from Sal's as well and it was some of the best hotel food we have ever had. A++++ Great coffee in the room as well. We brought our own water bottles that we had delivered from GG while at Disney and used those here too to save us money.

Maybe someone who has stayed at both can chime in and give you more details. I personally don't think concierge is worth the money as I could just use that on room service for a full meal when I want it...made fresh and not picked over by other folks. It may be useful to guests who use their services but I am too much of a control freak to allow someone else to be in charge of my plans and such.;)

Good luck with your decision.

if you want larger rooms, go with PBH.

i prefer RPH but, I go solo and book a king suite for the extra space.

at rph, the club room and lounge, are all on the same floor.
at pbh, the rooms eligible for club, can be on various floors, wings.
they are not all on the same floor where the lounge is located.

for me, i find that the rph is closest to City Walk where i do spend time in the evening for dining.
if i miss the boat to the parks from rph, i can easily walk it.

if i miss the boat at pbh, the walk would be quite lengthy for your group since you have 2 littles with you.

Thanks .. I am leaning towards Royal Pacific since the whole tropical atmosphere is slightly more appealing that the Italian village feel in the middle of winter. The club lounge would be a nice bonus as well. Another question .. the boat launches from the different resorts drop you off at the same place? Do the boats drop you off at each theme park entrance (eg - multiple stops) or do all boats drop you off at one central place (eg Citywalk) and then you walk to IOA or US from there?

Appreciate it

We managed to get club at PBH cheaper than RPR club, so obviously that is what we are doing. However, hands down I would choose a club level floor in RPR over a standard room at either HRH or PBH. We love the added features of the club level.

each hotel has its own boat dock area on the water way at the hotels.

the boats travel from their hotel to the drop off section in city walk.
all that hotel boat does, is go back and forth from that hotel to city walk and back to the same hotel.

if you are at rph and want to do pool hopping at pbh, all you would do is change boats at the city walk boat drop location.

all the hotels boats, share that same city walk docking.

to go to city walk or the parks after you are dropped off at the CW dock, once you are off the boat shuttle, go to the right and up the stairs for CW or IOA.
go to the left for the studios or side section of CW for stores and restaurants.
