Day 5 - 7/18 - Friday

I think that today had to be the absolute hottest of all our days in Orlando so far. It was not very cloudy and hot... I mean hot. The girls walked around in their bathing suits at the parks and spent most of the morning doing water rides. After a quick lunch they went into a bathroom to change into their clothes again. I was so hot that I took Thing2s wet bathing suit and wore it as a bandana around my neck...much to the dismay and embarassment of Thing1...hey it worked...cooled me down just fine! The gang was now on their commando plan to ride everything "one last time" as this was the last day of our passes. The Dr. Doom ride had been tormenting Thing2 since we got to Orlando. She was determined to ride it, but couldn't muster up the nerve to actually get on line for it. Every morning she would open up the drapes in our room, point to the ride and say, "today is the day I ride Dr. Doom"... only to pass on it as soon as we got to FOTL. It was almost as if Dr. Doom was mocking her every time she looked out of the hotel window. So she finally got up the nerve to go on with the Lt. and Thing 1. So there they went to conquer Dr. Doom...and I waited looking up with the camera ready to try and get a picture of them on it...or at least their legs... when the Lt. taps me on the shoulder. What happened? You mean I missed it? I knew FOTL was fast, but this fast? "She's too short" he said "they wouldn't let her on". I looked at Thing2 who was smiling ear to ear... after all that Dr. Doom had let her off the hook. "Maybe next time I'll be tall enough, but not today. She wasn't upset, but happy as could be.

I'll finish up later with dinner at Margaritaville....

We finished with the parks at about 6:30 and headed over to Margaritaville. The hostess tried to talk us into eating on the deck, but we really wanted to eat inside. They were really crowded and we were told it would be at least as hour wait. They didn't even have any pagers left to give out, but put our names in the computer. I asked why the long wait for on-site guests and was told there were a lot of large groups there at the time. So we walked around City Walk and did some more shopping while we waited. We checked back in half an hour and got a pager. The Lt. and I had frozen margaritas, while the girls played with some stuff they got in the glow in the dark store. Finally our pager went on, and we got seated. We had a wonderful dinner. We shared some appetizers...the shrimp cocktail was spiced up with excellent seasoning... the calamari was very fresh... and the buffalo wings were very tasty. Then we shared a full rack of ribs and a chicken dish with salads for dinner. A guy on stilts came around and made balloon animals for the kids and we got to see the volcano erupt two times. The check was just under $100. We all had a great time. After dinner we went to the store and bought some parrot patio lights for our deck back home. When we left it was raining....again. The water taxis were not running due to lightning, so we walked back to the hotel and got really wet... but it was so hot it felt good and we needed to walk off that big meal anyway.

The dive in was cancelled due to the rain... it was "Big Fat Liar" with Frankie Munez, which the girls had seen already. The Lt. took them to the arcade, while I went to the room. Surprise... we got turndown service tonight. I figured out that for some reason, we only got turndown service every other night... not sure why but thats better than none at all. Also, we left daily tips for housekeeping on the pillow, but some days they weren't taken at all. Strange.

Tomorrow we plan on poolhopping to the RPR and PBH. I also reserved a character dinner with Shaggy and Scooby in the Islands Dining Room. Thing2 will be in her glory.
