The "Royal Tea" is listed as an onboard option (at a price!) to book for our upcoming Magic cruise. I found a rather lengthy thread from a few years ago when "Royal High Tea" was tested on the Fantasy, but find nothing recent. That thread went into a discussion of "high tea" versus "afternoon tea" which may be why DCL now calls it simply "Royal Tea." ;)

I was thinking of taking my DGD (4) who is into princesses and tea parties. Has anyone done this? What was included ? Do you think it is age appropriate for a 4 year old? It lists 1.5 hours so it is not something brief.

Thanks in advance!

I did this on the Fantasy in January with my two daughters, ages 6 & 8. IMO the perfect age (not saying 4 is too young but my girls seemed to really *get* the entire experience while a 4yr old might not).

They are personally greeted at the door, there is a small show, 3 princesses arrive all separately and go around to each table - twice. The girls receive a doll, a huge autograph book and pen, a jewellery box with a charm bracelet and charm necklace. Then when each princess comes to your table the first time they give each child another charm. There isn't a lot of food, finger sandwiches, some small desserts, juice for the kids and a big tea selection for the adults. It did not last 90 minutes, we were done in about an hour or so. Each child also gets a big cupcake personalized (you call down to guest services and let them know which character your child would like on their cupcake, you receive an invitation in your room for this). Also the day after the tea you will receive one more surprise in your room - I don't want to say what it is because it WAS a surprise for us and quite lovely.

My mother and daughter (age 7) attended on our cruise in January and they had a lovely time. Both of them still talk about it so it was a good bonding experience. That said, the price is rather steep so I think you just have to see where this fits in your budget. Although my daughter had a wonderful time, the whole cruise was magical.

Thank you all for the replies! I plan to book this. I don't do spa or a few other options onboard, so this will be perfect for the two of us and should be a nice special time. bcwife76 - We will be on the same cruise in 2018! The California coast on the Wonder! See you there!
